The Cult of Chemosh

Hello all,

I've begun development of a new guild concept for Genesis I am calling "The Cult of Chemosh."

This guild is something I've been dreaming of for a few years now, and playing around with in my mind. Over the last month, I've gotten more serious about it, and drawn up a fairly robust conceptualization of the project. Having spoken to both Petros and Navarre, I've determined that the guild will be located in Krynn or Ansalon, and focus on lore surrounding Chemosh, the god of death.

So, some basic info on what I'm hoping to create:

Guild Theme: Necromancer
Guild Slots: Occ, Lay, Race, Craft (All four in one.)
Guild Focus: Manipulation of death and unlife, creating armies of minions to do your bidding

The concepts I intend to build into the way this guild plays are ones that I hope will offer many new ideas, challenges, and fun into the game. As with anything put into development these days, I do not believe in just creating "more" content, but rather in creating substantial new concepts that will increase the available ways to have fun for players in Genesis. This guild will hopefully achieve that in spades.

No word on when it will be finished (I'm just getting it rolling) other than "when it's ready." Lavellan has indicated he is willing to help me whenever a real coder is required - a promising first detail!

More of a teaser than anything, but I thought I'd get some discussion going,

Necromancy is as unholy as it gets. I suppose if a good-aligned player really wanted to participate they could allow themselves to be killed and raised as an undead minion for the Necromancer to use.

Haha, you know i mean a goodie mirror version of the guild :)

I know this will be an interesting concept, heck if anything youre original in youre ideas.. And they tend to be fun.
Thats why i asked..

My reason for asking though is that this would be the third OCC evil caster guild in the donut.
While goodies barely have one, and it isnt even that interesting ;p

Want to buy an interesting, fun, innovative good aligned caster guild! :D
Have an idea or two if youre interested in it as a project after this one ;)

1.: I'd play it.

2.:I think the people that points to the fact that there are still guilds that needs to updated, have a point. Updating the existing code is probably more important, but I don't know if you are even involved in that.

3.: Back in 2001, I pitched an idea to Elmore (wizard) on a Morgion themed guild for the Krynn domain, and we started to co-develop it.
I don't know if there is any remnants left on the Genesis server of it, but I have had a HD crash since then, and only have some of our mails left. Still they contain a good bit of the thoughts on it, some of which could certainly be weaved into a Chemosh theme instead.
If you want to see them, I'd be happy to forward them.

I like the idea of the guild, however I'd rather open the WoHS, everyone could get something out of that due to the three orders, still, hell given the ability to code stuff that advanced and the green light I'd do it, however if Gorboth feels that this will revitalize his love for this game I say go for it. Tell me if you need help with ideas and whatnot I'm a nerd for Krynn anyways and would love to help develop them.

Just something to consider, dont do what has been done with tons of guilds. Give them super powers so people get used to beeing the baddest bastards in the game and then uber nerf, people leave beacause of that stuff -.- Dont take stuff away from people, start them of on a pissy lvl and slowly upgrade them to become something balanced and playable. Or we will just have another guild going dead due to nerfs. People do NOT mind buffs, nerfs on the other hand pisses them of :P

Excellent!

As long as people don't get paid money to create content, the only way content is gonna be created is if wizards make stuff that they themselves think is interesting. So either offer him money or stop complaining :)

New quality content and more variety is always good. And judging from Gorboth's earlier work, I think we can be quite sure this guild is going to be very interesting and cool.
