Guild recodes, a hypothetical scenario.
Hypothetically, if the wizards did decide to combine their efforts to recode a single guild at a time, which one would you like to be first in the queue? Please add a reason why your guild should be first.
Might and Glory flaming for changing dawn, ancient power revealed of an iron crown, clear and cold and shining so far and bright, crush the world in one clash of your binding light.

Skip all herbing and silly magic, gimme badass skill with the <insert weapon> and no need for armours apart from some cheesy hand-sewn harness.......

Re: Guild recodes, a hypothetical scenario.
Recode Rangers.
Fix the broken stuff and replace the useless crap they have.
Then the Morgul Mages.
Fix the damn OP they have, and make them more correct lorewise(but still retain some sort of balance).
And do it asap, no more of that "but we need to fix the new magic system first" crap.
Should have been done LONG ago.

This thread made sense to me because I believe that the character power imbalance problem is the biggest flaw in Genesis playability. If these guild recodes would not be in service to the guild balance project, why would anyone prioritize this?amberlee wrote:And do it asap, no more of that "but we need to fix the new magic system first" crap.
Along those same lines, is there any guild whose flavor is so wrong, or any guild remodel blueprint so compelling and complete, that the recoding effort shouldn't focus almost exclusively on balance and standards?
So, I did not find a listing of which recodes were still pending, but I did find this quote, totally apropos of recent discussions:
As such, seeing as we already have some volunteers, if the Admin announced that if X number of people would give them five hours of new wizard level coding a week for the rest of the year, they could hit some major balance milestone, I'd certainly have to reconsider my reticence.petros wrote:Here's my proposal for solving all of Genesis's problems. If you're caught scripting, we will force you to become a wizard and code for Genesis (starting with the recode of the remaining non-recoded guilds) since you obviously are good enough to write scripts and should be able to write LPC. Yay! More wizards, less botters!
The preceding collection of words was presented by Strider's Player.
Any meaning you ascribe to them is most likely due to lucky happenstance or your misinterpretation.
If you'd prefer Strider's opinion, you'll probably have to ask for it in game.

Re: Guild recodes, a hypothetical scenario.
I have no idea what a re-code entails nor do I have any grasp of what is good or bad. I am simply not up to par on game-mechanics whatsoever. I just press keys and my character does things. That being said, I do know a good guildemote when I see one.
So me, with my extremely limited knowledge of any kind of code and my complete inability to understand most things computer, would make an effort to brush up some of the various emotes that the guilds around the realms have. This might be something that is considered to be around #20 on most peoples lists in terms of what needs to be fixed, but to me it is a huge part of the game since it immerses your character in the particular guild he or she is in. Also it encourages roleplay which is of course, excellent!

Re: Guild recodes, a hypothetical scenario.
Yes i quite agree Becka.
The emotes are important for RP/Immersion.
And quite frankly, some guilds have rather stupid emotes which are totally out of character.
Like the knight emote "nsmile" "You smile just like Nick"
Who the hell is Nick?? Why do we care? its not knightly!
This is just one of many i would see removed from different guilds though.

Fix their broken tanking ability.

Re: Guild recodes, a hypothetical scenario.
Nick was one of the original Wizards to code the Knights of Solamnia a long time back. That emote was included so that he would live on through it in the game. I suppose he could have just had a statue made for himself, but the wizards of the day decided the emote was a better way.
So, when you smile like nick as a knight you are smiling like one of the people who created your guild.
