You know of course that helping DAs in conquering, battling KoS and NC etc. aren't even anywhere near the top priorities for PoT? Those are things they do in their free time :)

Can you think of some good Clerical duties that also fit in with Genesis? Assisting the DAs I would say would be their way of keeping them in check and under Takhisis control, they can do a bit of preaching if they feel like it. They can be out picking dragon eggs to make draconians as well if they want to but I think I remember that they need some dark-robes for that.

Interesting how the only thing anyone has said about this is to point out that I messed up with one of the guilds.
No thoughts at all about the idea.

Or you could let them try to open the portal to let the Dark Queen through.

Cute hijack, though Arcons initial proposal is not entirely without merit. What do wizards think on and around these issues?

No need. Your initial note was not hijackish in the least.

To what do we owe the grand honour of your return? And to the roleplaying forum, no less.

Dude, honestly? What do you expect me to answer to that: "it's that x-mas time; I do it for the kids?" There's a flame section, innit - and this thread, which seemed to me to invite discussion on where the game should be heading, and on the place (actual, ideal and hypothetical) of role-playing in the game. The latter interests me. The former not so much.

I've recently received an interesting log, which has restored my faith in RP still being well and alive in Genesis (that was after I was disheartened by certain members of certain RP-heavy guild communicating with sentences including 'lol, thx, wow' etc. - forget about capitalizing words too):

Code: Select all

Narrow cobbled street.
There are two obvious exits: north and south.
A headless corpse of a stern long-armed guard, a headless corpse of a fierce thin-
legged guard, a pool of blood, a headless corpse of a stern black-eyed guard and a
headless corpse of a fierce thin guard.
An ogre.
Gnome arrives from the north.
You greet the ogre. How friendly!
You say: Hello there.
The ogre looks down at you and nods stupidly.
Gnome greets the ogre.
The ogre booms: OI, DAR.
You say: Have you killed everything in the tower?
You introduce yourself to the ogre.
The ogre shakes its head in disagreement.
You say: Trying to get the young one here some experience under its belt.
You grin merrily.
Gnome smiles proudly.
The ogre points at the gnome.
Gnome introduces itself to the ogre.
The ogre booms: OGRE IN NEED O GNOME SKULLS FIR DA HARVEST.
Gnome peers questioningly at the ogre.
Gnome goes ack!
Gnome begins to back away slowly.
Gnome shudders at the thought.
The ogre gazes hungrily at Gnome with its wicked crimson red eyes.
You say to the ogre: Ogre should go and visit Krynn then.
You grin merrily.
Gnome agrees wholeheartedly with you.
You say: Plenty of gnomish heads there.
The ogre booms to you: OGRE BEEN IN KRYNN, THEY BE OUT O DEM LITTLE GNOMES.
Gnome pauses to think about the mysteries of the universe, and soon comes up
with an entirly new theory.
You say: Well, this one's head is not for the taking.
The ogre booms: YOO BE MEANING THIS TOWER
The ogre points south.
You say: Aye.
The ogre thinks about it, then it dawns on him... Its face brightens.
You say: But we can go someplace else.
The ogre booms: ILL BE DOIN WARRIOS INSTEAD.
You nod thankfully.
The ogre booms: YOO DO TOWER
The ogre booms: WID DA GNOME.
You say: Thank you.
The ogre booms: FEED THEM GNOME SKULLS.
You say: If he grows bigger, he'll have better skull.
The ogre grins grimly.
You wink one of your keen olive green eyes suggestively at the ogre.
The ogre agrees wildly.
The ogre drools excessively.
You say: I'll keep him well fed then.
You give a meat and vegetable stew to Gnome.
The ogre booms: BIG LITTE GNOME.
Gnome eats a meat and vegetable stew.
You say: See?
Gnome flexes its muscles impressively.
The ogre jumps up and down, clapping excitedly and shaking the ground with each hop.
You give a meat and vegetable stew to Gnome.
The ogre booms: YOO GUD FRIEND, FGEEDIN GNOMES FUR THE OGRE
You say: Good food, plenty of practice.
You say: Will be good and healthy head.
Gnome tries to look thoughtful but fails.
The ogre drools excessively.
You pat Gnome on its back.
The ogre reaches down and pats Gnome on its head with its fingertips.
The ogre booms to Gnome: GO EAT UN TRAIN DEM BRAINS.
The ogre waves stupidly.
Gnome blurts: ThanksForNoteEatingMe!
The ogre waves stupidly.
You wave.
The ogre stomps off, leaving north.
From the north you hear thunderous footfalls fading into the distance.
Obviously, the log was edited slightly to protect the identities of involved parties.
Time is precious. Waste it wisely.

That log was great XD

Time to make a RP character and try to memorize all the emotions and emotes or are they the same thing....?
(if you don't understand what I've written, assume I have bad wording)

It was fun even reading it. Really. Loved the whole conversation.

This is the kinda stuff that makes Genesis fun and is why MUDs are superior to other games. This is why I keep coming back to the game after 10+ years of playing off and on. So much fun.
