On second thought!

Hello all ...

*laugh*

Wow. Rarely in my years as a wizard have I gotten so much feedback in such
short order. The mere mention of the possibility of removing recovery (which
was never a set-in-stone plan) was enough to have even the gully dwarves
ready to assault the Admin lounge and hold our coffee-maker for randsom!

What I actually really did appreciate was the degree to which so many
(clearly) worried players took the time to explain their thoughts and reasons
for this being a terrible terrible idea to me rather than simply ranting and
offering me a rage-quit response. Seriously - I cannot overstate how much of
a difference that makes for me. Not only does it help me listen to the
problem without feeling annoyed (I know, I know ... that's my job) but it
also helps me think about the problem with many new insights.

So ... lets just back off of that. I'll continue to look for a solution to
death that continues to include recovery of some kind. Thanks for your ...
death that can keep some form of recovery. Thanks for your ... er ... ah ...
um ... 2 billion cc! ;-)

G.
Mmmmmm ... pie ...

What is our current penalty for death? None? Old system with recovery?

One has to die to find out?

I assume it's no penalty currently since nothing else had been said.

But wait, so now the 5% suggestion is scrapped as well?

And what were the arguments for keeping recovery? I am n ot sure I understand what's so great about recovery? The guild XP boost? I see that more as a flaw than a feature... or was it really the intention from the start with recovery? That people should die on purpose to boost guild XP? It feels like such an... odd system.... always has. I was hoping we'd finally get something better and more logical!

I liked the 5% and pay to rebalance stats idea... especially pay to rebalance. As long as people who died during the old death system keep their recovery until recovered of course.

But now what? Back to the drawing board?

Cant we at least reinstate old death until there is a definite decision on death? Originally it was said death would return at New Years...

I think if you even loose 5% as a very huge player, with no recovery, it will take ages to get back. It's maybe a clear recipe of loosing those players.

I think Gorboth's initial idea is the best one - spending months or years recovering a death is by my opinion a thing in the past. I don't think anyone should spend More than 20 days (regardless of size) to get back on the horse again.
Might and Glory flaming for changing dawn, ancient power revealed of an iron crown, clear and cold and shining so far and bright, crush the world in one clash of your binding light.

i think that the reason that recovery is back is that so many players are on recovery now so removing it at once is huge blow to this part of playerbase.

That was option to keep recovery for old deaths and make new ones without.
But as developer, I must say to add version support to existing system is a pain.

It might just make sense, given that death has been on vacation for so long, to grant an amnesty and recover all players who have yet to recover. Then, initiate whatever program is desired from a level recovery playing field.

A good idea. Clean slate for whatever change that is coming.

As for Gorboths suggestion on removing recovery. I LOVE it.
