The hope is to eventually have familiars that accompany new players. The familiars will vary by race, and help newbies know where they are, what they might want to do next, and perhaps even help carry stuff or assist in combat.

How about a sign in the room where newbies get beamed to the rest of the donut with directions to the nearest questmaster, depending on your race. And make all quest masters say the same as the one in Green Oaks.

Code: Select all

You ask Menerial: task
>
Menerial says: Sorry, I have no more tasks for you, elf. However, I have
reports that there are other towns and villages that have need of your help.
Some of what they tell me I will pass on to you:
Menerial grins happily.
Menerial says: In the land of Krynn, in the town of Solace, be sure and visit
Tarshir. He has tasks and tours.
Menerial says: In the land of Gont lives Thera. She lives in a farmhouse and
could use your help.
Menerial says: North of Thera, in Ten Alders lives the herbalist Ariel. She
could you use your help, too.
Menerial says: Also, in the land of Krynn is the city of Palanthas. Visit
Leiden at the Silver Dragon Inn. He needs your help.
Menerial says: In the land of Middle-earth, Carastur, the Lord Councillor of
Pelargir needs help.
Menerial says: Also in the land of Middle-earth, in Minas Tirith is Hunthor,
the Master of Advice. He has several tours and tasks. You must be good enough
to enter the city to help him though.
Menerial says: In the land Terel is a gypsy camp. Visit Tecla, the old fortune
teller and she has tasks you can do.
Menerial says: In the land of Cadu is a Mayor. Visit him because he needs your
help.
Menerial says: In the land of Calia, visit the town of Argos. There, in the
park you will find Alexis. He has tours you may do.
Menerial furrows his brow thoughtfully.
Menerial says: If you're a daring adventurer, there are some dangerous tasks in
the land of Kalad. In the Central district is Hernan. He is in the Sage's
office and needs help.
Menerial says: Also, if you look around here, there are others who need help,
too.

That would give them something to bite in on, they get something real to do from the start and encourage them to travel.

And please, make it possible to buy lamps or torches in the Sparkle shop....And food, the young ones NEED food. Plant an apple tree, free picking, anything, it doesn't have to be fancy, just something so the young ones can fill their belly. It could even be limited, When you're not considered a newbie anymore, you can't pick fruit......hmm.....There should be trees like that in every domain.

For future reference you can still buy torches and lamps in the old merc camp. However sparkle now lacks any food source unless you go to Greenhollow

The old mercs packed up their camp and left, leaving a sad, sad gnome behind. Those bastards!

But yes, do make all the standard gear available in Sparkle, not just for newbies but for everyone. Drinks, food, lamps, oil, torches, backpacks, smith - the works.

No you can still, at least up until a couple months ago when I last played actively, buy some supplies at the general shop there. I believe it is east, northeast from where malignant used to be.

Like Makfly says, the camp is gone except for the sad gnome. Things change in game Ilrahil ;)

Unfortunately a minor change like that isn't enough to bring me back. But that makes Sparkle have even more of a problem with no shops near the docks.... but I guess that would be a dierent topic.
