Code: Select all
Greetings,
After the secession of immediate hostilities, there is a short period required
for the rush of adrenaline to subside before it is safe to leave the realms.
Should one try to quit during this period, a message is given.
This message is now also available in the vitals (specifically vitals panic /
fatigue) where one may notice the term "full of adrenaline". If this text is
present, it is not yet possible to quit. Similarly, breaking the link while
adrenaline is showing will result in the body remaining the realms for a little
longer.
With regards,
Mercade

What is the reason such cooldown exist in the first place? How about removing it in PVE and keep it in PVP?

Well the main reason is of course so you can't escape death in PVP too easily. You ask a valid question though. I am not sure if there are any technical issues with making it PVP combat only, or if there are other reasons it should be for all combat. I'll let the more technical wizards answer that I think. From a game design perspective your suggestion sounds very reasonable.

Linkdeath is an internet influence the game has to handle, not an intended game mechanic. From a game perspective, we don't want linkdeath to be the escape method for any combat, whether it's against another player, or just because one gets nervous from the high number of orcs or guards that disagree with you.

Yup, Mercade kinda ended this discussion.

Obviously you should not be able to LD out from death of hunting NPCs or the Yeti or other things or areas designed to be dangerous.

That makes sense. Is it possible to shorten the time before you can ld on PVE situations? 1minute ,or whatever it is now, is long waiting time when something urgent arises. 15 seconds will still cover your reasoning Mercade.

I like shortening LD cooldown on PvE, because life happens.
Anyway, awesome work yet again, Mercade!
