*shudder* Forget about mating Bromen, that will _never_ happen.

It's funny, I've played Gen for 3,5 years. I had no idea there were weapons you could put gems into...Is there corrupted armours around too? *tingle*

The more expensive the gem, the best it works. There are two accepted gems that are always first option, guess you can discover that fast enough. The black diamond and the red ruby are the third and fourth option. From my experience the corrupted weapons have their own alignment, and as you kill evil stuff, it increases its alignment and weakens the gem until it shatters. Since I don't mass kill goodies I don't know if it works also the other way.

As for special abilities, I remember when the corrupted mithril axe was introduced. It was an exact copy from the bloody steel axe with half the weight (BSA could weight easily 15 kgs), and it didn't have the healing special. Trying to wield one without skill would even hurt you as the BSA. Later they tweaked it (cut the weight to half a kilogram, and removed the hurting IIRC). Now they restored the old weight. However, I don't really remember any special thing with it, not even special hits.

Got a log from our first contact with the axe, 2001-10-30. It used to be back then when the trolls autoattacked (bit off-topic, but won't be posting this in the Trollshaws thread since I am already here):

Code: Select all

Torwin leaves limping west.
A dark tunnel beneath the Trollshaws.
There are three obvious exits: north, south and east.
Torwin, Galadur and a terrifying young troll.
Kazack arrives from the east.
Galadur attacks the terrifying young troll.
The terrifying young troll attacks Kazack.
The terrifying young troll attacks you!
The terrifying young troll considers attacking Torwin, though does not dare to
do so.

There used to be young trolls around the size of a expert/rising hero, plus the warriors and large ones.

There are 72 players in the game. Within the requested type you know:
Andraghoras Galadur Kazack Rhynox Verena
Beldin Glindor Lysander Rio Wishmaster

You lightly bruise the evil warrior troll's body with your mighty dwarven

Galadur tickles the body of the evil warrior troll with his heavy steel club.

A dark tunnel beneath the Trollshaws.

A blood stained club, four pairs of padded bracers, a dull iron greaves, two
tarnished iron helmets, a rigid chainmail, a huge troll waraxe, a dull steel

mithril axe.
Torwin and Galadur.
Kazack arrives from the north.

take mithril axe
You take a broken corrupted mithril axe.
> Torwin peers brokenly at the huge troll waraxe.
sminspect axe
You study the weapon carefully.
This is what you notice:
This is a corrupted mithril axe, once forged by the elves of Lindon. It was
used in countless battles against the Dark One, but was stolen during one of
their battles. The Dark One took the axe and twisted it to his own designs and
now it is corrupted and full of evil powers. In fairer days, the axe was named
'Cleaver of Dark Foes', but is now named Golughosh, 'The Elf Breaker'. Dark and
evil runes cover the once fair axe. A mediocre unholy power emanates from the
very strong jade set in the handle of the broken corrupted mithril axe.
It is broken.

You appraise that the weight is 7500 grams and you guess its volume is about 20
liters. You estimate its worth to 0 cc. This object seems to be able to last a
while.
The axe is made to be wielded in the left hand.
This weapon is extremely powerful and more lethal than many of the famous
weapons.
Even an apprentice warrior could kill easily with this weapon.
This weapon is most likely enchanted.
> Torwin snaps his fingers.
Galadur says: any good?
hmm
Hmmmm.
> say Almost perfect
You say: Almost perfect
> say Extremely powerful, even an apprentice
You say: Extremely powerful, even an apprentice
> Kazack says: almost?
Galadur says: nice
say Magical
You say: Magical
The old description was different. A few days later we got a copy:

Code: Select all

> take corrupted axe from rack
You take a corrupted mithril axe from the weapon rack.
> sminspect axe
You study the weapon carefully.

It looks like it is in prime condition.

> grip axe
You strain with all your might but are simply not worthy enough. An unholy
power curses you and takes a portion of your life from you!
A portion of your life-force was drained by the axe!
> h
You are physically feeling rather hurt and mentally in full vigour.
> grip axe
Straining your entire body and mind to the limit, you barely manage to gain
control of the axe. A presence from within it seems to have accepted you as its
new owner.
Taking a firm grip on it, you wield the corrupted mithril axe in your left
hand.
> glance
Storeroom in the Hall of Warriors.
There is one obvious exit: south.
A weapon rack, a large stone chest (open) and a wooden cabinet (open).
The presence within the axe urges you to feed it some blood.
You feel power flow from within the axe to fortify you against any obstacle.
You smile confidently.
It even had the emotes from the old BSA (it also had the fortify emote, but not sure about the lickaxe one). Then they added the other corrupted weapons (I think the sword and halberd first, then the flail, finally the bow).

Thanks historian! Very impressive the Rhynox Log Library.. :)

Smells like the axe used to pwn on elves!
Did the BSA ever have special which did more damage to hobbits?
Very cool axe, cool its back to any handed now.
Kabal not that smart with limited stuff, all available BSA will spawn straight after arma.
But these days BSA only really used for healing utility item.
Love the fact that when you wield it you will attack any hobbit who happens to be standing in your room.

All the coolest weapons mess with your head.
JBS being the coolest weapon of all time.

Well, I am not sure if the BSA had special descriptions when fighting hobbits, but it did more damage to them for sure. It is possible the original corrupted axe did more damage to elves (or being unwieldable by elves, the BSA couldn't be wielded by hobbits, not sure if that still stands nowadays). A pity I lost the log when Bocephus wielded the axe in the Calia bank and attacked Ska, with all the guards coming in to assist against him.
