It seems that the recode was a failure, since it didnt attract any new players to the guild. As far as I know there is 1 active SS kender. And like I mentioned before he's very fun to team with, but provides almost no dps support and can't tank.
In his recent post Carnak mentioned that thieves should be able to defeat magic users, just like magic users own warriors. However, this is not the case at the moment in Genesis.
So, how about making SS able to 'disrupt' a casting mage? A kender would flail his hands wildly, jump and down while screaming incoherently, make funny faces, try to mimic a mage, tie the shoelaces of his boots together, helpfully add some weird ingridients to his spell components pouch, etc. This way a mage would fumble a spell. Consider this a way of stunning mages. And perhaps if the kender's mentals are significantly higher than the mage's, 'disrupt' would cause the mage to totally forget the spell he was casting.
This way a kender would be a very useful addition to a team and keep aggressive magic users at bay. Even MM would try to stay away from those pesky kenders
Its the theme of the guild, its not a combat guild, people want combat today.

That's a great idea and I think it would add a lot of flavour! Certainly make things more interesting.

Also, as a side note, I think the Kender SS might want to think about rebranding.

How about adding some utility to the.. uhm stealth class. Just as the ranger have clerical spells, how about adding a bit of alchemy.
You could make ex. smoke, choke, sticky, cratch "bombs" or perhaps even traps or something like that.
you could even launch them from the hoopak

Unkenderish to the extreme, kenders are moronic travellers, not in any way truly warriors.

I think you got that wrong. Kenders are travelers extraordinaire, beloved of Fizban, and fearless warriors.
Besides it was more an general idea for the rogue profession overall not specifik for SS

No, they are not warriors. At all. They defend if needed, they know no fear cause they are breaindead
Later in the lore ALOT later after a particularly viscious dragon put true fear in them, they actually started using swords. Its an exploration and rogue guild. They are not supposed to make bombs and carry out terror attacks.

Or are they...?
Perhaps for all this time we have misunderstood what the acronym SS stands for? A.k.a Suicidal Squad?
