Change to white hits

Effective immediately, there will be a big change to white hits.
This specifically affects how we determine how many hits are done in
an attack round.

Instead of it being highly random, it is going to be more consistent.
This means, in particular for things with many attacks, instead of
sometimes seeing no attacks, and very occasionally seeing a lot of
attacks, you'll typically see one attack every round.

How does this impact you?

For those that use one weapon - you will not see a difference.
For those that use two weapons - you'll use at least one attack
each round, and two attacks will be less likely.
For those that use unarmed - you will see one attack every round,
but the 2-4 attacks in a round will not happen without some magical
tool, which may get you two attacks on occasion.

The more important impact will be on how NPCs attack you.  For the
many unarmed opponents in the game (dragons, trolls, ents, etc),
they will also typically only have one unarmed attack each round.
You will no longer see them occasionally getting four hits off at
once.  (Note that octopi will still have a lot of swings).
This should mean your chance of dying instantly from a very unlucky
multi-hit round should be largely gone.

The average damage for everything remains the same - so things will
do just as much damage to you, and your damage to them will be
unchanged on average.

I am particularly excited about this change, as I think it will be a
very big quality of life improvement, given how fast one could get
knocked way past your wimpy to instantly dead before.  I hope that
everyone enjoys it.

I seem to be taking more damage even on small stuff now.
Yagluk got me to above bad shape where he usually gets me swh if lucky.
Goliath also got me hurt. And even their orcs and brigands do damage now.

So to me it seems this makes it harder to solo. Dunno if it needs more tweaking.

Hi Budwise,

Everything gets the same number of white hits as before.
Instead of it being 4, 0, 0, 1, 1, 2, 0, 1, 0, 1 in ten rounds, they'll have 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1.
The ratio of which kind of white hit they use (left foot vs axe vs right foot vs unequipped hand) remains consistent too. You just won't get hit really hard all at once by that rare 4.

Alas the net result is still that I take more damage on even small mobs.
Cause they hit a lot more often now. Sure the 4-hit "oh dang"-moments
could be bad, but nothing getting the hell outta Dodge and healing couldn't fix.

Overall I took less damage with the old system. This new one has lowered
the limit on what I can solo. So to me it's kinda driving the game towards
even more mindless grinding in teams with semi-aware triggerusers.
And I don't do triggers, plus I like to solo stuff. :)

Me again. Maybe its the fact that damage done to me now is fairly constant
whereas before there was time for booze or other stuff to heal me
resulting in me being a lot less beat up.

And mind you, this is on fairly mediocre stuff. If this scales up to mobs
comprised of bigger npcs my days of soloing those are over.

Might be time to join a versatile layman, like the rest of us had to. Glass cannons typically don't fare well in this new reality.

You mean a new occ? ;) Happy with Blademaster
and suspect Calia is the reason for bad tanking.

However as I did mention to Zizuph killing same mobs with same eq
both before and after change netted me quite different results.
I get a lot more hurt after this change.
