Currently, goblins have best constitution versus humans, they also have high
strength, their des and wisdom are average, and their intelligence and
discipline are the stats that suffer for it. The change proposed will give them
a strength boost whilst their constitution goes down, and the rest of the stats
will be average. So, the proposal is changing goblins from the strong
killingmachine it is today into a kind of sickly body builder with height
issues. Dwarves will go from being strong, healthy and brave, with the agility
of a brick and the brainpower of two bricks, both in wisdom and intelligence,
into now being stiff but healthy, and rest totally average. Gnomes will be a
choice for a caster, with increased intelligence, until they realize they need
mana as well. Gnomes are thematically small, weak, not to wise but very smart
people, but now, they'll just be another average. Same goes for elves, who now
will be just a tad wiser than the rest, but also suddenly become cowards.
Hobbits will see a change where they suddenly gain some health, and I bet their
strength will be a bit better, at the cost of their current constitution.

Basically, if you choose human, you have access everywhere, but your drawback
is that you are "average", but hey, lets fix that and make everyone technically
average, as 30 years of the current system obviously doesn't work.

I play human mostly, as I like the freedom it affords when moving around on the
Donut, and thematic racism like kenders, ogres and goblins in Kalaman, goblins
at Vingaard Keep and Minas Tirith with its policies doesn't affect me. The
option to change your race, for a quite significant price in skills when you
are going through reincarnation allow anyone to be any race they want, as long
as their guild approves.

The combat penalties we see today, where goblins are much stronger to start,
and gnomes and hobbits do struggle in the beginning, any significant time on
the donut is spent overcoming the obstacles of your chosen race, and for some
the struggle is harder than for others, for some, quests that require slaying
is done earlier because they are stronger and better fighters, whilst for
others, tasks that require intelligence is done earlier because that is their
racial strength.

I'm not saying that there could be some tweaking, but the change from being
somewhat off in three, four or even five stats from the 'average' to only have
one stronger and one weaker will alter a lot of players stats. For example a
goblin who now have epic constitution will see a significant drop, as the
constitution of a goblin goes from being the BEST in the game to being the
WORST.

Yes, Zizuph, all races are equally valuable, but this change will make all
races essentially equal. Some races aren't really built for being the tanker in
the party, some races aren't really built for being the rogue or the caster,
but with this change, it suddenly will not matter anymore...

If you wish to be a Neidar, you have to be a dwarf, if you want to be an elven
archer, you have to be an elf, and if you want to be a secret society kender,
you have to base it on a hobbit, if you don't want either of these, you might
as well be human.

What about Ogres? Ogres are altered beings where int and wisdom are brought
down to an absolute minimum for essentially only being able to walk and talk,
whist their discipline and I guess dexterity stays average and their strength
and constitution go through the roof. Will they too be altered? Suddenly they
will just go down a little in intelligence for a boost in strength, making them
just another basic race?
