Greetings,
The intention behind GNN - The Genesis (Gnomish) News Network is enhancing the
convenience of being easily informed about news of the realms in two ways:
1) To be made aware of news on nearby or far away bulletin boards. To achieve
this, people can 'follow' a board and be notified at login if there is news.
It is now possible to check for 'news' at any bulletin board in addition to
every post office. You still have to travel to the board to read it.
2) To dig into the news by remembering which notes on a board have been read.
The command 'exa news' shows only the new headers, and 'read news' the next
unread note. It's just a little convenience, nothing more.
Thank you to people who observed that the familiar 'exa board' should do just
that, and that instructions (sadly necessary at times) should be tucked away
into an appropriate unobtrusive corner. This change has been reversed* with the
twist that if you are a subscriber, and if there is news, the board will show
only the new notes. If you do not subscribe to the board, if there is no news,
or if you type 'exa notes', you will see the full list of headers.
Any further comments, be they about the immersion or the convenience of players
are welcomed through all appropriate channels.
