More movement hindering effects return

Post by Cherek » 03 Mar 2025 02:28

Code: Select all

Greetings,

I come with news from Avenir.

1. The six-pronged caltrops have been completely revamped, and
from now on they will be much more potent when it comes to impeding
a player's movement. This has been a joint project between myself and
Tapakah, with Tapakah doing the coding part while I've contributed
with the idea and design. So, if it is horribly buggy, blame Tapakah.
If you hate how it works in general, blame me.

Now, I've done a good amount of testing to make sure things are
as bug-free as possible, and that the movement hindering effect
is just right. However, it's never realistic to test, or even think of,
every possible scenario. So, please contact me with any feedback. These
caltrops should not mean certain death, but they should not be pointless
either. If you feel they are too good or too useless, please let
me know. This also goes for any bugs or typos you discover, or if you
find some suspiciously clever way to use them. If it's too good to be
true, it probably is, so instead of killing someone who will just get
restored, contact me instead so things can be fixed.

2. Because movement hindering effects have been disabled for so long,
much longer than anyone ever thought, a certain flower that Lilith
created some time ago never really got a chance to do what it was
supposed to do. My advice is to have a closer look at this flower
again, it's time for it to shine. Or well, burn.

Please note that the updated caltrops and flower are live now, however,
any copies of these items that are currently in the game will still
be the old version. To get the new version, you're gonna need to kill
some trolobies and/or find a new copy of the flower. Or, you can simply
wait about 1,5 days for Armageddon.

With these updates, it means all movement hindering effects found in
items are now enabled again.

What's left to do now is the global <block> ability, as well as the
different guild abilities. Fingers crossed it'll happen before Xmas.
Or... Midsummer??
