So theme is..?
Fire, Ice/Water, Wind, Earth, Spirit via the patrons..
Tie the themes to groups of abilities.
Fire - Damage (most damage)
Ice/Water - Mixed Damage and Burst Healing
Wind - Buffing for haste, slow etc (most buffs)
Earth - Mixed buffing and Increased recovery rate Healing
Spirit - Anti undead, summoning pets, team buffs
Similar to forging.
Have how much you use an certain spell as the thing that improves it.
As well as improving your overall skill in the element.
Have this visible.
But if you stop using a spell you get rusty at it.
And your overall expertise in the elements is limited + therefore "fluid".
Have say 150 points with the maximum that can go in one element 100.
Only have the highest uber spells available to those who have specialised (100) in one element.
So you may keep 100 in fire (making sure to cast a high enough ratio of fire based spells to maintain this)
And 50 Earth for a bit of buffing and healing.
Or 50 across 3 elements for a versatile set of usable spells. Or 75 in two.
You hopefully get the idea.
It would be something that is always in flux, so you might start the week well balanced and able to access mid level spells in various elements.
But you then go out and soley cast damaging fire spells for a week.
You loose your mid level spells in the other elements but gain a high level spell in fire.
I think something like that could be more fun than just devoting to one element.
Dunno really just throwing it up the flagpole see if anyone salutes.
