Laurel wrote:but but but ... you want goodie draconians to have only one thing: a funny death

The good aligned draconians have a wide array of abilities just like the evil ones, I aint gonna go retard and wish for my opposing faction to be without teeth, the good sides have dracs that mirror the evil ones. I decided not to write all of them down as I was not sure wether or not people would react possitively. Example!
Flame Draconians
A form of noble draconians formed from red dragon eggs, these draconians are extremely temperamental and will go into a fiery rage at the slightest provocation. Their breath weapon is so hot they sometimes forge their own weapons with it. They can also cast fireball spells. Incineration is the name of their death process. A fireball spell and ability to use theire breath in the forge not needing the bellows or anything?
OR!
Venom Draconians
A form of noble draconians formed from black dragon eggs, these draconians are much like rogues. They have a poisoned bite, and turn into a pool of acid when slain.
Sounds nice eh?
Those are the goodie version of the dracs, to make them alittle more special lets have one of the two rogue versions have a poisonous bite to use while fighting

To return this thread to the actual topic... I think this is a great idea!
I have an idea for it,
How about making it a little bit like the tamagotchi as well? So you need to take care of your animal too? Log in now and then to keep it fed and healthy etc etc.
So just doesnt become another combat thing, that only grows from combat, but also other things. This would be an excellent guild that could be used to introduce a few others things to do than just XP-grind.
And to keep people's pet from dying just because you cant play enough to feed them, there could be some type of "stable" or something where you can pay to have your pets taken care of if you need to be away for a longer period. But you need to take care of it yourself to make it grow.
Since I dont play WOW I dont know whether its "stolen" or not. But I really dont care, I like the idea so what? Its most likely gonna be different here than in WOW anyway. Imbuements were "stolen" from Diablo? And probably most other features of the game most likely originate from somewhere too... I think the word here is inspired by, not stolen from.
And honestly, if you are gonna steal, steal from the best. (if we judge WOW as the "best", or atleast most successful mmorpg).

That wont work since some people might be gone for a week and poof yer pet dies, make it like the red fang wolves instead, put it in the stable after you pick it up you need to keep it fed.
AND! Make it take 25% of YOUR xp to its own growing

Draugor: Uh, I said you could stable it when you are gone, and it wont die, but to make it GROW you need to actively take care of it yourself.
So to clarify, if you dont play much your pet is "saved" at its status, but in order to make it grow you need to play more and take care of it more. It could have some type of "happiness" variable that controls this. The happier it is, the bigger chance it grows. And there are a number of ways to make it happy.

More of a missunderstanding on my part, sorry for that.
But aye, ofc you need to have the pet with ya to make it grow. And have it take a big chunk from your xp out, but once its big its supposed to rock instead so it will be worth it when the pet is big and nasty

Having it take parts of your XP is kinda fun yes. Just like any teamember you mean?

No, like heavy guildtax

The guild itself has some tax and having the pet with ya taxes alittle more

Ah I see.
It could be fun if it worked as a teamate too though?
So it grows its stats just like we do. Or rather, that would be one way for it to grow, you'd still have to keep it happy etc or it wont grow no matter how much you kill.
Allthough that would go against Laurels idea of it gaining XP by time of fighting instead of kills. Is it just me or does that sound like it is made for rangers?
Anyway, that would be one really scriptable feature. Unwield your weapons, and then let your character and pet go around fighting NPCs until they are barely alive or so, then move on to the next room while the first NPC heals, just repeat this in a few rooms moving back and forth. Unlimited XP for the pet 24/7...
I think there should be a little more to making it grow, that requires attention to it.

I'll pay 99% guild tax to have a pikachu with a thunder attack as powerful as MM spells.
