And the pretend he's playing Genesis by cross-cutting with a computer screen of exactly what he is saying. A troll, a forest, etc. Super easy to code even for a semi-noob-wizard like me.

That be a fun trailer for Genesis. He says he's playing old text games from the 80s, Genesis is from the 80s, the oldest and orginal LP mud, most likely the oldest MMORPG still active. It fits perfectly with this video and we'll probably get alot of views from fans of the show. Its a classic scene after all.
