Well, sure... So for second offence, 6 feet hole in the ground for the chracter, in a nice place called dev/0...

I support the idea of: Caught once == regular death plus loss of stuff. Caught twice == same, but with zero recovery.

:)

If it "costs" that little to be caught cheating, I believe a lot more will begin doing it.

In my eyes there should be serious risk at cheating...
I understand we don't want to lose players, so deleting them might be over the top..

But.. caught once should be as now, but without recovery..
Second time you have shown a pattern, so that should cost you half of all your combat xp..
Third time you lose it all, and if you still keep doing it, I believe deletion is in order.

We gain nothing at all from somebody who isn't playing. That character might as well not be there.

as one who never owned any script that made botting possible, I concur tho
"gain" is not described in size but how much said char contributes to the society
any anty-social prick who doesn't interact with others in ANY way (not even share item s/he finds) is less of a gain for me than any botter (herb scripter, forge scripter, combat scripter) who does in fact interact with our small social group
most of you know and actively played with people who have used heavy scripts in the past (if you haven't used scripts yourself) - many of those people are refered to as "I miss her/him" or "he was a great person" - don't be hypocrites now please ;)

I would investigate this idea: If s botter is caught, place upon him a object that will hinder any accumulation of xp for X amount of days. Trivial to code.

Kas' idea of not accumulation of exp is nice, but perhaps only 12 hours of so... 12 hours ONLINE time ;)

I also like the idea of losing combat exp, however, that doesn't really punish. As Amberlee suggests, quest-exp... Now THAT is punishment, perhaps only reduce it by, say 5%... it might not sound as much, but it's an impact on brute, I am quite sure of that. Doubt there's any quest out there giving as much as 5% of what is maximum available now alone, not even collective sets like Torque or Zodiac combined...

Well - I know of at least one occurence when a player was punished by (by that time) AoP by substracting the quest exp of Torque from his quest exp AND banning him from doing the quest before he was finished. All this without leaving the slightest trace in the files for whoever might want to look into it later.
Now imagine your own brute if you had Torque removed TWICE. Once - you cannot do it, cause you're banned. Second time - substraction as punishment.

This player has a significant grudge towards the (by that time) AoP till now and it's been years. I think he is right by the way.

With this in mind, please by all means DO NOT TOUCH ANY QUEST EXP POOL OF ANYONE except those, who had it multiplied by the wrong value back in the happy-seconds-creation-days. It's not like there's plenty chars with quest exp cap reached.

Strangely enough, I just fixed this situation for this same player you mentioned today, Laurel. And I did it before I even saw this post!

He's now able to re-do the torque.

Serendipity! ;-)
