I think the place for a global Genesis chat is outside the game. On a chat network, or IRC or Skype, or whatever, by players, for players. I kinda find it odd there's no such thing. But I guess it comes down to someone actually needing to do the job of setting it up and promoting it. But any player is free to set up an out of the game chat anywhere they want. I'd happily link to it from the webpage as long as it's a player handled unofficial chatroom.

Why dont you start a chat somewhere Vlek? Like i said, I'll link to it from the webpage. And when people start chatting away on ntell we can guide them there instead.

Hmmm ... I've been really sick RL for the past 3 weeks and fallen badly behind on everything Genesis related. I really HATE HATE HATE this issue, and see I have some mails from people in-game which I haven't read. Vlek, if you are using the ntell line as a chat line, I will ban you faster than you can say "Palanthas"!

Could even moderate it when I'm on no biggie, to steer clear of quest info and such.

Out of game stuff I am fine with. In-game stuff should remain immersive. The Ntell line should be for HELPING newbies only. Quest info, chat info, etc completely ruins the line and the experience, and if we have drifted into that territory as the rule, then the line might need to go entirely.

I dont think I should set it up. Then it kinda becomes an official chat and I will feel I have to moderate it and apply our general rules of conduct and all that. As for not everyone being there, well, that all comes down to promoting it. Would be the same with an official chat. Not everyone are on FB or on the forums either, but the more that find the better.

I think it's very easy to set up an IRC or Skype chat and invite people. It would probably take some time and work to spread the word, but I think if someone is willing to do the work it'll be a good thing for the game.

The more people talk about the game, the more people get interested to play. I know that's how I work at least. I was always more active in the game when I spent time talking about Genesis with other equally geeky people on ICQ -> MSN -> Skype.

Why not just make a thread with Skype names? Then just add and give someone a call if you want to speak with them.

Yeah why not? Or invite them all to a common Skype chatroom? Skype chats are actually pretty good. You can turn off notifications for the chat room too, so people can chat when they feel like and not be bothered when they don't.

Chat line sounds like a horrible idea. We have boards, messengers, and mail, good enough. IRC or skype chatroom sounds interesting though.

I'd rather resurrect the IRC channel. Easily accessible and easy to set up a bot to give op to the wizards.
