My first tries with the magic map technology did, indeed, include a "show as you go" method. This is something I'm still hoping to open one day in the little mine experiment I've got cooking for Sparkle. In the mine, the rooms show up on the map as you discover them. That prototype in the mine was what lead to the later work with the magic map for Sparkle and the Tutorial, which have now gone on to be standard through most of the game. I never really did think it would become quite so global as it is now. What I didn't realize is how many wonderful wizards would catch the mapping bug and get it all plotted. Huge huge thanks to those wizards who took this so seriously. Finwe did much of Middle Earth and all of Faerun. Serpine did Athas. Was it Arman who did so much of Krynn? I can't recall. Most recently, Britannica did vast portions of Terel. Just great stuff. Lots of wizards have done other places, and some of the maps have been drawn by mortals.
I'm amazed at how it has all come together.

If only the magic map would not get broken every 5 or 10 minutes. There is no way one would go back to Sparkle every time to fix it, so i simply do not use it and wait for bug fix.

Question.. why does one need to go back to sparkle to fix it?
I'm not sure I understand the nuances of the map.
If something I wrote sounds confusing ... assume you misunderstood it.

You discard map, go to the room in sparkle where the dog is and auto receive a new one.
It works for a moment then.

Maybe the wizards could add a location or multiple locations in each domain that the same could be done
adventurer guild locations?

I think this is the first we hear of this.
If it breaks then it should be fixed.

Yeah this is new to me too. I never got any reports about it during my time as AoP and I was not aware of any major magic map issues. Only map issues reported to me was that it blanked out temporarily in some rooms in Sparkle and Krynn, which I think me and Arman fixed most of? This sounds more serious...

Yeah map is broken, it is mostly blank in areas where is should work.
I dont use it often, but from time to time i want to check if I am in place i think i am and in 9/10 checks its blank.
