Re: Magic Map for Mudlet 3
Multi monitor mudding... Welcome to the future!
Re: Magic Map for Mudlet 3
Here is a screenshot of two map systems together... Also note the chatwindow - its working ok at the moment still figuring things out such as removing all npc chatter etc... The "tabs" in the chatwindow blink with new messages etc.
The window is nothing I came up with but downloaded from mudlet forums and somewhat customized for Genesis.

Re: Magic Map for Mudlet 3
Can u post how to set that up?
Or a settings file
From the looks of things its worth a try out.
Saw an image of 3d boxes looking maps that looked cool..
Is there a way to import maps and settings from zmud/cmud?
lol I installed it and tried to set up directions keypad and failed..
Need a guide for cmud users

Re: Magic Map for Mudlet 3
I think I'm more interested in that chat window. How did you get that set up and working?
Re: Magic Map for Mudlet 3
Hi
The chatwindow : I will post about that outside of this mapping discussion.
Mapping:
Magic Map in a movable window:
1 - Install the zip file from the first post by Findis into mudlet
2- Go to the scripts section in mudlet and in the magicmap folder in script MapAre change createMiniConsole to openUserWindow - this makes the window its own and movable and its possible to link it to the main map window by simply dragging and dropping.
3 - I also changed the all cases of "map" to "magicmap" (WITH the "" included) in the two scripts MapArea and my_map - reason being to avoid any possible conflict with the main map if it uses "map". Im not a coder so this step could be unnecessary.
On moving the window - notice you might have to enlarge or drag the main map window from the bottom of your screen once you click and drag the magic map ontop of the main map and or the magic map might be put into a tabbed window with the main map as another tab - it takes some fiddling to get it to work the way you want it to.
Main Map:
Download the zip file created by Dixel at date 25 Mar 2015 (and read / save his post info) from the forum post "Client for Genesis (Mac/Win/Linux) (Insomnia adventures)"
Its been a while so I dont remember if anything else is needed.

Now the main mapper script has some issues: It needs an on/off switch badly in particularly for its ability to capture any command when moving through an area and at times updating already mapped rooms with commands used within them. This is not a problem until you speedwalk through that room and said command triggers. Due to this issue I would advice not to share maps with anyone as I have found rooms log my password when I have been LD and relog.
I will dig into it and fix it eventually.
For the sake of our small community lets share our progress with getting mudlet to work nicely.

Re: Magic Map for Mudlet 3
Awesome stuff guys and gals..
I got the direction keypad working and the magic map.
I think I like this better than zmud.
Going to try get a heads up display next.
Got the vitals from that other topic, so nice to be able to install packages so easily.
Hope that we can get to the stage where there are several full genesis packages on offer!
I installed the map script too but can't work out how to display map..
Okay worked it out, click the map icon, and drag the window to size.
Can switch between 2d and 3d easily.
So to summarise
Installed the magic map package from this thread, map the tweak about putting it in a window.
Installed the vitals from other thread
Installed the mapper from other thread, clicked map icon
type newarea Shire and ur mapping, and its nicer than zmud, making a mistake not have to type #nodir
dragged window borders on map to size i wanted, and its amazing how useable it is only 5 minutes in!
Will have to work out how to move vitals panel next.
Ps lol me typing the <> at start was in follow instructions mode.

- Being able to reuse the hard work of others is sooooooo nice.
A lot easier than zmud for that. - 5-minutes-work.png (116.31 KiB) Viewed 14310 times

Re: Magic Map for Mudlet 3
I know the mudlet mapper is off topic but it is pretty cool, in 2D mode I just worked out how to speedwalk, double click and add labels, right click.
In 3D mode no labels shown, and speed walk is single click.
Is there any existing mudlet maps for the game you can install.
Mapping everything again is quite a daunting task.

Re: Magic Map for Mudlet 3
Going to start trying to collate mudlet packages and stuff on the pbworks side.
http://genesisquests.pbworks.com/w/page ... t%20Client
After seeing what It can do I am totally convinced it is work making the switch to it.
So will be working on converting useful stuff I had done in zmud into mudlet packages.
