Mumon states it perfectly.

As has been well known and numerous logs past around of smaller players owning much larger ones when they out equip them.

Size means little in Genesis if you dont take the time to grind equipement. Oh another grind. And if you want great equip, given how it is implemented, this always wil be a grind.

But take away my dreams of growth .... and I could care to play. And just like when WoW reaches the stat cap ... I will quit then and move on to WoW 2 or whatever is 'new' and has growth. I have a hard enough time caring to play now but I am hopeful other RP guilds will open that I cam immerse myself in. And the wait is actually somewhat nice, as I am still at a loss as to how things worked out.

But dont mind me :) I am just a former asshat MM who hates everyone etc .... in fact all MM are just Trennigan types waiting to mess over anyone while still living in our moms basements. Though truth be told all of us just love the theme and take it quite seriously. Truth be told too ... some of the best logs I saw were the RP of my wife (a ranger) and Gadez in Ithilien. Where he would catch her slaying orcs at times and they would RP the situation to a conclusion. But RP is funny when dealing with a mage .... and most have egos players (all players to some degree) and there it goes awry.

I believe the game mechanics outside of RP are also of value to the game. Stats play a huge role in this, as does skills, specials and other nifty things wizards code. Its very hard to RP any kind of badass when you can be driven from the room with ease by those smaller than you are. This used to be the reality for many spellcasters.
Exactly this is what I think Genesis should be able to offer new players within a reasonable time span and a change such as this would make that possible.
As one of those "people" that you refer to:

What do you want me to say? What exact control do I have over this? Seems to be something that a wizard should respond to more than myself.
Well I was throwing the question out to everyone in the RP thread. The world do not circle around you even though you seem to think that...
I am a grinder first and an RPer second. And to take either away and genesis means much less as a method to amuse me in my free time. And I am nowhere near the soft cap, yet.
The softcap will still be there you just wont get as much advantage out of it. It will still matter though.
Also, as someone w/ big (huge?) stats I think I can safely say that stats by themselves don't make that much difference. Rather it's quite arbitrary depending on how the specials in your guild are implemented.
In thread after thread people refer to "Hey what do you expect being a champion attacking a MEGA myth?" So yes, size matters alot but differently in guildabilities, health point and mana.

It all comes down to what kind of game we want to have. Do we want new members? Do we expect to have them play 5 years to be ale to compete with the rest of us? Will anyone buy this concept?

Old people, people with good scriptskills and cheaters will still have an advantage but new players will also have a chance to enjoy the game.

I agree with everything again Chanele.

Very good points I think.

Ydred: Interesting to hear from a hardcore grinder's perspective. Just out of curiosity, how would you feel if stats had a lower cap, but grinding would provide other benefits instead? Is that the stats you're after, or would you be fine with other rewards to? Just as long as there is _something_ to grind for?

Given that you said "people" and you say "everyone in the RP thread" which I am one of, and that I prefaced my statement with "As one of those "people" that you refer to:"... You kinda are just reiterating what was stated.
