what would help here..
And now for the most crazy idea ever..
but once a year, simply take all the guilds and players, save the machine, shuffle the bag and we all wake up something els. just for the day

hehehe
Oh well my thoughts on this are pretty blank. Ive been Angmarian for almost 100 days in game, and I know the guild isnt up for war against pretty much anyone. So i play my game, consider my retirement in a neutral guild, and really stopped caring. Yeah ill lose my fights, but fuck it, ill just walk away. block cant stop anyone from leaving anyway. and if i get killed anyway. well i will recover. but im done screaming for fairness and balance when its heard as a cry for an I win button..
So jolly jolly.

Nono, I was told Yesterday that Necromancers where OCC powerfull by someone whom have never even set foot close to the guild

Sure they where OCC with the drain thingie, but now? 3 spells that are worth piss, and one of them aint even worth piss imo. BUUUT! It looks good in code so

What do the people who actually use the stuff know?
That was my point. Instead of going back to the drawing board with them they just got nerfed beyond belief. In my opinion they should have never become a layman option, way too much time, effort and thought was put into them molding them into a OCC guild. But thats a whole nother argument on its own.

Even after that mortal was gone, the pull of "playing" the game was still too strong in my thoughts, and corruption continued. Guess what? Things are SO MUCH BETTER when you are wizard without trying to also play the game. Why? Because you can check corruption at the door and just focus on what you think is actually good for the game rather than what is good for you when you play the game, or your friends who play the game.
Since the millenium, I don't give favors.
I don't share wiz-info with non wizards.
I don't preference situations to help one faction over the other.
I don't do anything for anyone that I consider inconsistent with the rules.
Truly, I see myself as close to corruption-free as I am able to be (humanity causing me to be just as fallible as the next guy, so one can't ever honestly say 100% is achieved.)
If you wanted me to go down and suddenly play a guild, guess what you'd get? You'd get a totally and horribly corrupt wizard structure from the top down all over again. I'd probably make all sorts of new emotional ties to certain players and have all sorts of stupid things going on. You can already probably name (fairly accurately) this or that wizard you already feel is guilty of this from Genesis history.
So ... no. It might seem like a good idea, Amberlee, but there is simply no idea that is worse. Not one.
G.
And this is the reason to why i called my challenge a double-edged sword.
Yes you risk the corruption.
On the other hand you get a better perspective on things if you are able to avoid said corruption.
Cause face it.. There is one thing that is just as bad as a corrupt wizards... And that is wizards that dont have the foggiest idea on how the game really works.

And corruption up until a year or two ago and I'm sure now even still exists.
There are still players who can get stat averages.
Mass quantities of the vampire guilds code were leaked to "enemies" of that guild.
There are people who can still find out exact numbers on hit/pen for certain weapons.
There is no perfect system. I can respect your views on seeing yourself as getting corrupt but I still think it would be a good learning experience. You could be the silence and just follow orders etc. No need to develop bonds with people, just watch and see the day to day life of a mortal in game.
You could get the same idea from snooping yes, but the rush of being in the game is not there.

I agree with Gorboth on this one. I'd rather not have wizards involved in politics.. and getting attached to one guild or another. I realize there is still corruption despite this fact... but it is typically a lot worse when the wizard has a character involved. Lets not forget that us players are very hard on wizards even when they don't have a character but they used to have one in such and such guild. We make all kinds of accusations and assupmtions about them and what they do. Its a slippery slope.
I think a possible solution might be if the character was literally named "GorbothJr". So we knew it was the wizard. It wouldn't be EXACTLY the same as being in the players shoes... and you could likely guild hop as much as you wanted because we'd all like for you as a wizard to understand what our issues are.. but we'd KNOW it was you. So it would be you as the wizard coming down to be on our level somewhat experiencing things the way we are from a playing perspective.. not a politicing perspective.
Granted... some people would be on their "best behavior".. but.. its better than nothing?

I think the best way is to test things on actualy players more, and better.
Allthough I am all for mainly mortals who have a wiz char and do some coding here and there, but the admins and keeper is probably b est if they focus on those job mostly... It would feel odd if Chade is not only knight's grandmaster but also the AoB.
How about putting togehter a group of people who make weekly reports to the wizards about... well anything?
Mortals who want to do it of course, and different types of players from different guilds and aligns. Grinders and Rp'ers, casual players and hardcore players, etc.
That way wizards could get a feel for for how mortals experience the game, what they like, and what they dont like.
All "real" games do this before release, I think it would be a good idea if we did it more continously.
Of course we do this in a way with the forum and boards, but perhaps it would be a good idea to do it in a more controlled way, with a selection of players who report both enjoyable and not so enjoyable things they have encountered during their last week of playing, etc.
