Re: Gear inflation?

In short: full recode of PvE combat

If the goal of the retooling was to make the Red Dragon more difficult, I would say you have definitely achieved this. I took a stroll by and had to stroll back out very quickly.gorboth wrote:As an experiment, today I retooled the difficulty level of the Red Dragon of Terel. Go after her if you like and report back here as to what you think of the change. I can revert back if it is no good.

It could be increasing HP drastically, give him more damage resistance, give them different "phases"
And things like that
Simply increasing damage dealt drastically is a really BAD thing, ESPECIALLY on that dragon cause
#1- It damages entire team
#2- There are very few ways to effectively prevent it,
#3- The loot obtainable is very limited and is completely not worth it for 90% of genesis.

here we are or rather were discussing gear inflation and now suddenly we're talking about UPDRADING loot from NPCs? What???? I give up
Give everyone everything they want and let them keep it. Why should it matter?

Special dragons should be un-soloable.
Like Emerald, Onyx and that blue dragon outside Kalaman
The oversized newts in Icewall should only be an annoyance though.
gorboth wrote:So who has tried the Red Dragon? I made her both tougher and more deadly. You are suggesting more deadly is not a good idea? This suggests to me that you think dragons should not be more dangerous, just take a longer time to kill? Or perhaps if they take a longer time to kill, they are already more dangerous because they can outlast you? It would help if people could give the red a try and give feedback. I have only gotten this from one player so far.

p.s. I definitely am *not* a specialist with combat and npcs. So don't expect me to "get it" ... you'll need to test and report and explain. That's how I get things.
