Oh, come on who wouldn't join a Hello Kitty Guild?

Will you make this public in game aswell? If you want input from Rangers you should, far from all are using this forum.

I agree with most of this post, here are the issues I have currently.

Yes wizards are volunteers and we should be happy that they spend their time coding for us. However, that doesn't mean go make a I love hello kitty guild just because that tickles the fancy of said wizard and it's what he wishes to do. When the majority of players are against something I feel that unless it majorly impacts the game mechanic wise you should take their wishes into consideration. Because yes while they do volunteer we as players give them something to volunteer for. Without a playerbase there is no one to code for, it's a two way street.

That being said yes the idea is sound and does have merit, however. If this is implemented what it is turning into is a mess. Why? Because you are holding one guild to MUCH higher standards. While allowing a very controversial guild much more leeway, once again. So no I don't find that following the lore is the way to go if you're not going to force the rest of Middle Earth to meet such standards as well. You have a non-human Nazgul named Fluffy, I don't think you can get much further away from the Lore then that. Yet here we are speaking of removing all races except for one racial of humans from leading a guild?

You say it is a necessary evil? A necessary evil is stopping all this botting and scripting crap, a necessary evil is to quit allowing players to grow to insane sizes and continually cater to the power player, a necessary evil is to properly balance herbs, healing in general and the promotion of teaming instead of one myth solo's all. These are things which need to be fixed and damned those who get a black eye in the process. Telling people who during the "Harshest" times this game has gone through when they WERE the guild, they kept it alive, they kept players interested, they "volunteered" their time to teach new/second players.. too bad so sad? This is where the gavel is going to finally come down? Screw what the majority says? No that is not a necessary evil.

I'm a human Ranger, this change does nothing but benefit me and I'm not only against it but I find it really disheartening.
When I said a necessary "evil" I meant that the change could be hard for some of the existing members. I did not mean to compare it to things that many people consider to be problems with the game.

It is clear that Gorboth sees issues with the MM that he doesn't want to see repeated here. Obviously, there are also reasons he doesn't want to simply override past decisions about the MM.

Let's have some faith that Gorboth respects the history and long-time contributions of non-human leadership of the guild.

One way to approach this is to change the guild name from Rangers of Gondor to Free peoples alliance or the Free rangers or something similar, make one company be based on the rangers from the book and one company a mix of RoN and rangers from Rivendell. So you get Rangers of Dunedains and rangers of Rivendell (that accept hobbits and half-elves as well)
If changes are being made there is nothing that don't say you cant change the companies a bit to fit in as well.

Please excuse the bad names.

You can go further and have the Knights of Gondor (Peregrin Took ... a hobbit), the Ithilien branch (humans just like Faramir), North branch (humans, half-elves - Aragorn and Elrond's sons), the Shire militia branch (hobbits) and the Rivendell branch (elves obviously). All united under one common Captain, the branches could be just title-stuff based on race (like ogres) or give some perks or slightly gameplay changing abilities (i.e. current difference between trip and knee). Now who's the Captain - Faramir and Aragorn, who are quite both humans. However Aragorn did not consider humans to be superior over elves, did he? So with Aragorn and Faramir being captains, only lower ranks remain to be settled upon. Why not from the Rivendell, Shire or Gondor branch? Nothing I can remember about Lt. or Sgt. of the Rangers ...
- http://lotr.wikia.com/wiki/Rangers_of_Ithilien - "they were nearly as skillful at stealth as the elves, even if they had only heard of them in stories at the fireside"
http://lotr.wikia.com/wiki/Rangers_of_the_North - "Like all DĂșnedain, they were very friendly with the Elves, particularly those of Rivendell, where each heir would be born and raised. They secretly guarded and protected Eriador, which included the Shire unbeknownst to its people from spies and invaders."

Actuallly Aragorn was the Chieftain and Faramir was the only Captain.
