Yea back then you could..
Now you cant.. Maul is ancient history..
And just relying on battack doesnt quite cut it.

What? Are you telling me they have re-instated all this "needs voting and stuff to become mauler" bullshit?
Or did they remove maul at all? Making Calians the "team only" guild with current playerbase is like shooting yourself in the foot in my opinion.
I fear no evil for I am fear incarnate.

Would seem to make sense to be able to switch between mauler or swarmer in the guild with a few minutes wait.
Think of how merc adaption works.
Maul was nice because it could stun.
There was a good reason why it was created, but being stuck as one or the other is too inflexible.

I guess if maul is _gone_ they got an even more uber swarm, plus a few other tricks.
But yeah, need to throw em a bone for solo play possibilities.

I believe the idea behind any of the recodes is to have something that is super uber with a major pitfall. For Calians.. its the inability to team alone. If the playerbase was bigger and enough Calians were around. I doubt they would notice there being a problem.

Sort of like the Genie:

Aladdin: You're a prisoner?
Genie: It's all part and parcel, the whole "genie gig":
[grows to a gigantic size]
Genie: PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWERS!
[shrinks down inside the lamp]
Genie: Itty-bitty living space!
If something I wrote sounds confusing ... assume you misunderstood it.

other than that ... some people are REALLY outdated ... or even OUTDATED! Calians lost their maul ability (got something else in return afaik), between "Rhaegar's times" and loss of maul there was the option that worked like Tarax described ... duh at you all if all you people debate on is based on as much and current info as this topic ... really DUH!

Well, calians are supposed to be the real damage dealers. However, they miss often, their swarm is stopped if you attack him, and the damage itself doesn't match the damage done by ogres (as most calians are humans or elves and don't get the strength bonuses ogres get). In fact, vampires dealed damage at about the same rate as calians without having their restrictions (as proven by the multiple times Irk and Ahith fought Freya and Goul in the Terel caves). True, it was a 3x1 guild against a professional guild, so the comparison may be a bit off.

Calians were turned from generalist to specialist, but their restrictions weight heavily in the low playerbase we have.

I’m not a complete idiot. Some pieces are missing.

Rhynox, I see why all your notes about Neidars sound so whining.

You don't see a single positive thing! You sound like the most pessimistic person I have ever seen.

I think Calia have lots of stuff, nice powers and so on. And I can in no way see what you describe with broken attacks or many misses.
I got no clue where you found that info, but it surely doesn't fit with what I have seen and experienced.

For an optimistic view we have Gorboth. I am not the only one complaining, by the way. However, at least for me, carrying a small calian is carrying death weight, they can barely hit anything big unless they are big enough. Move behind encourages idling since they never tank and it makes me irk (no pun intended). Whenever I notice someone idling in my team I drop him at a common room with a messenger to contact me whenever he is back.
