Just a few minutes ago Beregond was slain by Freya and Bofur.
During the last few weeks he has been attacked several times by the two, and
also by others.
Currently Beregond is a Hero. Both Freya and Bofur Myths.
When Beregond asked the reason for the attack, he was told by Freya that she
and Bofur are Angmarim, and that is sufficient reason.
At the same time Bofur says that he attacks because Beregond refused to give
him the name of a Hobbit Herald that has scried Bofur the other day.
During the combat, Beregond managed to cast a prayer of Peace, which prevents
combat for a while.
When this prayer is cast, Bofur calls the 'spell a fucking joke'.
So, my point is:
PvP: It can be really fun. Exciting, adrenalin-inducing, challenging and more.
Roleplay: It can be really fun. Entertaining, funny, challenging, and more.
The game of Genesis allows for both. I think this is good.
It makes the game versatile and allows for different player styles to fit
paralellel to each other.
So, my question is?
What is the point of attacking and slaying a Hero with 2 Myths?
Is it worth doing, just because you can? Is their an ultimate goal to it?
I am afraid I cannot see the PvP challenge, nor the roleplay in it.
And I freely admit, that the third death of the week has effected my moral a
bit, but I still cnsider the topic of value.
Allow me to share an anecdote:
-when doing Martial Arts a few years back, in a elite training group, a new
member entered the team.
-he met one of our more aggressive fighters during training
-as he was new, the aggressive fighter was offered the advise to allow the new
member a bit of pace (not slack)
-when given this advise the aggressive member lost his temper fully
-he went on about "his" training being disturbed and lowered in quality etc
What I believe the aggressive fighter failed to see, is that without the other
members of the team,
his training is unexistent.
He is dependent on the others sharing the Dojo, for his training and
development, as well as his challenge and fun.
I think that this could be something to discuss here as well.
Why push players to the egde, where they feel close to leaving the game, by
repetetive attacks against over-whealming odds?
And please, since I wanted to keep this topic constructive;
it is not our own fault if we create the Dagarim Aran and then "cry" when we
get killed.
Please read my note where I clearly state that the Dagarim Aran is a 100%
roleplay-idea.
We have stuck to that ideal since the start.
Sincerely,
Beregond's player
