when I rolled a newbie, I knew I should eat ... however the pace at which stuffed levels drop when you're really small are just ... crap :(

It shouldn't be a problem in the newbie area, especially when killing bunnies. Just tell them that they can pick/eat (one at a time) vegetables from the fields until they're full.
And stuffed levels on genesis aren't all that bad, I was once checking this one mud (forgot it's name) which had really extensive system, with different traveling paces (walk, jog, run), combat (offensive, defensive, other stances, aiming etc.) fatigue and stuffed (you could actually die of dehydration/hunger). THAT was hard to get.

Just tell them to search the corpses and cut/tear what they find.

But it used to be that newbies did not get tired. I think at least.

I tried the newbie area recently and newbies do get tired and ALOT.
I agree with Laurel:
I know I have to eat, but newbie character gets hungry so often, that you have to eat one of the best foods in newbie area every few minutes
or you get stuck extremely exhausted.

I guess this is because newbie constitution raises very fast while grinding bunnies compared to their size and size of their belly.

Never had problem with hunger in newbie area using the method I stated above.
Nor did I have problems with encumbrance. Just don't use any weapons when grinding bunnies, unarmed combat ftw!
