Was bringing them back completely scrapped or just left on the back burner? I forget whom but I had thought one of the wizards said they were working on them some time ago..

The history as I remember it:
Originally coded by the wizard Jeremiah. He quit Genesis when he left college, and took his code with him.
Picked up and recoded, briefly opened, and then closed.
Then looked at by Louie, who never ended up having time/energy to complete anything more.
So, status = essentially scrapped.

I remember there used to be one more wizard who tried to resurrect them, including the introduction of 'staff' skill. But I believe he gave up on this idea too.

Silver Bladed Staff from Solace area was coded for them.

Mortis (I think his name was) did alot of work on new Palanthas. I never heard him mentioning working on the WoHS though.

Imo a WOHS like guild should be in genesis.
The only "mage" guild in genesis now are actually the necromancers.
I know some people will try to claim that the morgul mages is a "mage" guild but this is ultimately WRONG!
The morgul mages are infact.. Clerics..They recive the scraps of (un)holy power that their "god" Sauron gives them.
A mage/wizard however draws power from the arcane studies and knowledge he possesses.
Mages in Genesis should be something to want.

Yeah none of the magical guilds like it when you call their abilities spells either, pretty sure I got one of the ugliest looks from Hektor for that one. They are "Gifts" not spells!

A very fascinating observation. I sort of have to agree, though I have never thought of this.

That's why I proposed the magic mercs in the first place. So we could get the true OCC 'mage' guild instead of all being more or less 'priest'.

An occ merc casterguild...who would keep it in line and prevent loose cannons from compromising it?
