Here's an idea.

What if we had a "receive Genesis news and information by mail" option? You know, like a lot of sites have when you register.

Maybe we could keep players who dont play much and lure back some of those who have basically forgotten Genesis?

I was thinking maybe common board notes would be automatically sent, so for instance an event announcement will be sent by mail to a lot of people. And the admin could of course send a manual mail if needed. A wizard and/or recruitment message for instance.

We could also send some reminder-messages when people have not logged in for a long time with any of their chars. The typical "we miss you" message.

We probably have a list of a lot of mail adresses that we do nothing with. Obviously it should be easy to turn off this feature, we dont want to spam anyone against their will. We could have an in-game setting "receive mails from genesis on/off" and an "unsubscribe" link in the actual mail that also turns off the feature. When introducing the feature we of course send a mail to everyone explaining it, and give them the option to leave it on or turn it off.

What do you all think? Silly spam or potentially a good idea? I think it could be a good idea and I dont think people would mind it, on the contrary.

I honestly think that for example this forum has made more damage then good to the game. People don't have to log on and walk down to Sparkle to check out any news they just come here. And if we would start sending this by email then people won't even have to come here.

I think we should move everything possible to Sparkle. All the discussions and everything. We would see more people around sparkle just hanging out. If we could make some type of board that worked a bit like a forum so each note could work like a thread so you answere it "inside" the note.

The point is to make people interested to play again by reminding them about Genesis, and being able to reach out to the entire community at once if we wanted to. What type of mails we decide to send is up to us.
