Hello all ...
I know that many of you do not participate in the Official Forum, which I
very much understand and can respect. However, once in a while an idea
crops up there that I feel is worthy of directing the attention of all
players toward. This is one such situation.
Since wrapping our big push to raise funds last Summer, we have been sitting
on the money that was collected, waiting for the right time, idea, and
opportunity to put it to use. I've had some consultations on the matter of
various sorts, but have not yet felt ready to take action due to the
"shooting in the dark" nature of the idea of advertising Genesis via the
methods that have been proposed.
I ask everyone who is willing to check out the Forum to read and vote on
the matter brought up by Arcon in the following thread:
http://www.genesismud.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1967&p=16040#p16040
This idea has a few things going for it, that I find worthy of consideration:
- A banner for a month at $50 - $60 dollars is a very small bite of our
$3,000 donated monies.
- The comic seems very much geared toward "our crowd."
- The page supposedly gets 15,000 hits per day. If even 1% were to click
on our banner and visit the webpage, that would be 150 people.
- If it doesn't work, we can stop spending the money and not have used
very much at all.
Please voice your opinion on this matter. I believe it to be worthy of
consideration for our community and a potential winner for promoting the game.

The worst thing that could happen is that we only get like... 4-5 NEW players that wants to atleast check it out

Are people actually ready to be there for those new players? To answer "stupid" questions and give hints without being jerks?
Hope so.

I sincerely believe we are. I've been witness to countless people giving out advice and help on the ntell line. I think we are a friendly environment for newbies at this point. I certainly would not take time to encourage people to try Genesis if I didn't believe that.
