orry I could not copy the beginging of the fight but I attacked him.

he begining of the fight went great and he could not hurt me, but he broke both
my
axes so I was screwed. If I had more axes I might have put him on the run.
I was wearing a black fullplate, a death robe, boots with death spell defence,
helmet with undead damage and a ruby snake ring. As well as a couple other
embues.
I think if I had more axes or was able to save my origonal from breaking I
would
have won or he would have ran.

Yeah that weapon breaking thing is totally annoying. You need like a pack of weapons. And of course a gazillion death resistance items.:)

Hey, how hurt did you get him?? Log says somewhat hurt? But maybe this isnt the entire log? Was he ever hurt or more?

Interesting. What do you suppose your relative sizes are?

I think it's small legend vs supermyth/biggest player(?) in the game. In other words, an enormous gap in difference.

I think this is interesting,

First, it is important to know that Neidar are designed to be uber-tanks. That is what they are. Which is why it was so shocking that Logg was taken out so quickly by really prepared MMs. Now we have a turn around on that. Pacal was completely decked out in resistance gear, had specific imbues to counter MM as well as being his uber tank self and was able to hold his own against a (from the log) unarmed and less prepared Morrison.

Keep in mind we also do not have a full log here so there are still questions about what the outcome would have been if the axe hadn't broken, whether if Morrison was prepared to fight Pacal or not, etc..etc..

Either way, I think that this provides some evidence that shows Mages are not the unkillable, uber myth super-killers, immortals that everyone tends to argue they are. It also shows resistances truly do make a huge difference in respect survivability.

Interesting indeed.

Morrison says he was max prepared, which is in line of what he usually is.

Definitely interesting. He held his own quite well despite being much smaller. Its quite likely Morrison would have run out mana before doing much of anything damage-wise to him. I also wonder if resistances are capped or not.

Pacal was super-stacked with tons of resistances, nothing your regular player will walk around with. The Logg log (heh) kinda showed what happened if you dont have that.

Morrison disabled Pacal pretty easy though, using one spell, DESPITE all his resistances. So, I guess we now know hat death resistance have no effect on that weapon-breaking spell.

Ogre: Non magical weapons have not been tested I think. It would make little sense if they didnt break though?

Windemere: How do you mean this log shows that mages arent unkillable? It shows that it theoretically possible to _survive_ a mage attack if you're stacked with imbues at all times you leave the guild. (which is realistically fairly unlikely). I agree on that! But it doesnt show much if mages are killable or not. I guess they are if you catch one idle, or have an ogre with you. But other than that, the mage, just as most guilds can just speedwalk away if it goes badly. They can also travel while invisible so... well if you want to hunt one who doesnt want to be hunted... it's gonna be extremely hard to find one. So... if they're unkillable remains to be seen I think.:)

And... since the mage can keep you from escaping for 2 minutes or more, they can just return another day when you're not stacked on resistances, or just bring a friend, and you're dead, dead, and dead. There is the biggest danger in my opinion. And I will always argue that the imbalance of the "stop-enemy-from-escaping" abilities is the main issue that keeps PVP from being fun for more than a fraction of the realms.

But yeah. We've kinda proven now that death resistances do work well against the mages offensive damage spell. So far it has not seemed to be effective against any other of their abilities. And lets not forget that death resistance items are very rare.

Sooo.... no. Mages are still crazy-powerful. Theres is no doubt about that. Unless there some type of counter against all other abilities that we havent found out yet... not sure what that would be. Maybe stacking on global magic resistance instead of death? Who knows...

I'd love to see how a mage thats NOT a mega myth would perform though. But I suppose they locked Kas in the tower so he wont embarrass them?:)

Wanna duel Kas?

Not really. Perhaps the magic in that particular spell is limited to reverting magic inside of magical weapons, and thereby destroying them. It would make a lot of sense as a spell limitation to only have it work this way. It would also explain why we're not actively finding pile and piles of broken weapons around mage hunting grounds...
