The tale of three brave souls.

Part 3, the Resurrection

A sudden flash of light pierced into our noble heroes' eyes as they
awoke, the immediate bright light too intense even for the purest
of souls. As their eyes adjusted, tears of physical pain evolved to
tears of betrayal as their last memories washed over them. As Kanel's
heart shattered into a thousand pieces, her face froze and eyes
turned from bright blue to black within black. Filled with rage and
sorrow, she silently vowed to neither speak nor show emotion untill
vengeance had been served.

As tears were wiped, a group of hooded shapes appeared as if out of
pure light, the trio suddenly heard music and song as their wounds
closed and youthful shine returned to their skin. As their vision
sharpened they realized they were face to face with the Valar and
immediately fell to their knees.

As the Valar took pity on the trio who's pure hearts were so cruelly
snuffed out of existence, they took to song. As melodious voices
filled their hearts and souls the Valar slowly faded from view, and
their home in the Sunny Mountains slowly manifested in front of
them. "Praise the Mighty Valar" the trio chanted as three robes of
pure mithril magically appeared.

"The Immortals have stirred the balance of the world, so here's our
way of evening out the odds. Wear these robes mighty warriors, and
foul magic shall never harm you again." whispered a voice in the wind
and then, silence.

Meanwhile in Schmalia...

Dix woke screaming, waking Mad Elise from her wet dreams of malice
and cruelty. Angry for being disturbed, she rasped "What the hell,
Dix - I thought the dark dreams was part of the ruse!" Dix shook
with fear as he realized he could sense the trio's presence in the
world again. "The Valar took pity on those barefooted hippies, and
I can feel Kanel's broken heart as if it were my own" he muttered as
Mad Elise snored, long asleep in utter disinterest.

Night fell and the Schmalian Powerhouse rose from their bed-coffin
hybrids. Dix, having lost all sense of sleep after the awakening,
groveled in shame in front of Mad Elise, apologizing for his own
sentiment vowing never to talk about it again. While disinterested
to the point of bored with Dix' begging, a hollow forgiveness was
granted and plans to rid the world of the trio once and for all
started to take shape.

The Band of Ignored Brothers, having slept in their robes, were
slowly getting their confidence back, and with it a renewed sense
of justice. If anyone were to take on the Apples of the Immortal's
eyes, it had to be them. Armed with immunity to their magics, they
could again trust their swords to do the job for they were made
for. Looking through their old armoury they were also able to find
some items with ancient magical imbuements, confiscated from the
Evil Mangers by the Mithril Mages and later passed to Valarmars
Army for safe keeping.

Having previously sworn to never wear boots again, they trodded on
barefoot, only to return and mend their marching boots for the last
time. Impractical, they said to themselves, considering the distances
they had to endure the last time the Immortals cheated them. This
time around, justice took priority over dew appreciation.

Their course was set, and after a long march they disembarked in the
city of Schmelan. They could see the eyes of the few terrified
citizens who dared step outside brighten a little as the Holy Trio
walked through the otherwise lifeless city. They heard whispers as
they walked, yet unable to discern their exact origin, from corners
and alleyways sounded "Kill the Clerics!", "Free us!", "Slay the
Tyrants!"

Pils, having been surprisingly mute since the encounter with the
Valar now knew that not only would Justice be served for the
deceitful assassination, but for these very citizens, who's
traumatic torment under the Evil Clerics has eaten their very
insides for decades, as well. Not having announced their arrival and
trusting the immunity provided by their robes they confidently sought
beds at the Schmalian Inn. The Innkeeper looked at them
suspiciously, greedily counting coins behind the counter while
muttering something about the scarcity of affluent strangers.

As the evening was still young, the three noble heroes agreed to
head downstairs for a deserved recreational beer. As they approached
the counter, Jazzius took notice of the bus boy repeatedly trying to
smother the fire with a cloth, only to remove it shortly after.
He looked at Pils whispering "Is that little kid sending smoke
signals?"

The boy now aware that his attempts at notifying the Favoured
Clique were seemingly thwarted, suddenly froze and put his ear to
the wind. Shortly after a brief nod, Mad Elise in the shape of a
presence and Dix now engulfed in flames appeared right next to the
bus boy who himself began dripping, then quickly turn into a
miniature tempest.

The Holy Trio drew their swords, taking a defensive stance as the
three Favoured started chanting simultaneously. Before they could
make a single step, fire shot out of their hands subsequently
engulfing the Inn in magical fire. The robes flashed as they repelled
the flames, but before they could think of the oddness of a tempest
lighting something on fire, Mad Elise whispered something
incomprehensible while raising her claws in their direction. The
robes abruptly stopped glowing, the fire not only burned their flesh,
but also surrounded them with an impenetrable wall. The bus boy
turned to look at them, whispering into the wind. Loud cracks could
be heard as their robes and imbuements turned to dust.

Virtually naked, skin sizzling, Kanel threw her sword through the
firewall in Dix' direction, impaling his throat, lodging him firmly
in the wall behind him. She found peace in the sight of him gurgling
on his own blood. Mad Elise, unphased of her "lover's" demise, and
as our Holy Trio were looking death in the eyes, chanted one last
time, subsequently engulfing the Inn completely in fire, burning
all living things to crisps.

Moral of the story: While armours act as a physical barrier
(resistance) to melee attacks, magic resistance items, while few and
rare, act as just that - resistance to magics. It makes little sense
to me that there should exist a spell that negates all resistances
completely and in some cases, magnify the lack of resistance to the
point where there was once immunity, there is now added
susceptibility. It would be the equivalent of me wishing my target's
armours and natural AC away while slashing hit points in half, and
having it granted!

That is not balance, people. The guild is a monster!
