Remembering Raelle

Greetings Genesisians,

I am writing this note with tears in my eyes, because today our community
lost a fantastic person. Dana Feingold, the player behind Raelle was in a
hit and run motorcycle accident on Saturday. She was taken to the hospital
in critical condition, and today she sadly passed away.

There are many of you who probably knew Raelle better than me, but I knew
her well enough to know that she was a kind, positive, and also a very
funny person. I will definitely miss her humor, which aligned very well
with my own.

Raelle, the character, was also a real success-story. She came here fairly
"recently", which in Genesis-terms probably is around 10 years ago or so.
I remember we wizards were at the time wondering how long it would take
before any of the "new generation" players (who found us on Chrome Web Store)
hit myth. We even wondered if it would _ever_ happen, considering the steep
learning curve in Genesis. Raelle was one of the first players of her
generation (_the_ first I think) to prove that it's definitely possible for
a new player to grow to myth in Genesis, and to do so in a relatively short
time. And she did not only grow in mortal stature, she also successfully
navigated the political and roleplay parts of the game. Raelle spent a long
time as one of the few female dwarves in Genesis, eventually becoming
Thane of the Neidar Clan. Not very long ago she left her beloved Neidar
Clan and became human, to pursue one of our most roleplay-heavy guilds, the
Shadow Union. While Raelle was the character Dana played the most (by far),
she also played Iss, Lark, and Zhaleka occasionally.

I have created a statue of Raelle and placed it the Memorial Garden south
of Sparkle, so that she will always be remembered for as long as Genesis
exists. When I am writing this, the statue has only a temporary placeholder
description. I will enlist the help of her closest friends to finish it as
soon as possible, but you can already go there and <share> your fondest
memories of Raelle.

I will also share a part of what her family wrote on Facebook a few
hours ago:

"If you would like to contribute to a cause in Dana's name, please donate to
transhealth.org in Northampton Massachusetts."

The website is transhealth.org, and there is a big red "Donate" button there
for those of you who want to contribute to a good cause.

My heart goes out to all her friends and family during this very hard time.
Dana will truly be missed, but never forgotten, in our community.
