Balanced statsetting when meditating?

Post by Budwise » 07 Nov 2022 14:50

Does anyone know if the "evenly"-setting takes racebias into account?
So that my stats grow... ehrm... evenly if I use "evenly" by distributing more xp
on the stats I am weak in etc. I did bug the wizards about it but didn't get
an instant answer, so I'm being mortal about it.

If it isn't a thing, could it be made a thing? Preferably before christmas... no really!
I have all supreme stats now so no way of telling if they grow evenly apart
from the voodooshenanigans that I can't be bothered to do. :-)

Also... I shall henceforth be known as "Diana Ross"... (and the Supremes.)

When I was a gnome, I mainly focused STR and DIS. and I'm pretty sure my INT hit epic first. I remember playing with myth dwarves and they would mention they only had immortal DEX. If focusing on your weaknesses doesn't help, I doubt evenly would either.

I would love to have completely even stats too!

Budwise: No, it does not take that into account. You are just setting which stats to focus on when you meditate, your natural race modifiers will still happen. So, a hobbit that sets their stats focus evenly will still gain DEX much faster than the other stats, and still struggle with STR. You'd have to manually try to balance it by focusing on your weak stats, but, like Skythus said, even then, it might not be possible for some races to reach even stats.

As for making it a thing... I don't know. I guess you could have some setting that is called "balanced" or something, that tries to balance your stats. Probably doable in theory, if someone who knows more about this than me wants to give it a go. Might a bit confusing, though, if you simply cannot balance your stats due to your race choice? I am not even sure ANY race can get "human" stats... Would be interesting to know if anyone has tried and succeeded in getting human-even stats as a non-human.

I mean I'm an elf and more or less on supreme stats now.
How evenly supreme they are probably requires a snooping wiz.

But I imagine racebiased stats are calculated in a manner
that would allow a setting that distributes xp so that most goes on my weak
and less on the strong stats, thus making them grow evenly?

I guess the easy fix would be changing to human but wheres the fun in that?
I'd miss my horse and elvish luck.

Thanks for the swift reply tho.

Oh, and Skythus. I have focused on different stats to keep them somewhat level.
Trouble is that all are now at supreme, so I will not get any pointers to where they are
from meditating. Thus the wish for the "balanced" option. One that distributes
future xp by taking racebias into account. So the stats raise more or less at the same rate.
Totally even stats I don't need tho. Not that OCD about it. But it is nice to be able to wield
a certain sabre.

So a "balanced" option or visit the thaumathurgist at some point if that's still a thing.
