No, all races are equally valuable, and any difference in stats
is very, very slight and simply for thematics.

This is the opposite of what you have said - pick whatever race
you like for RP, and you won't find a combat penalty in any of
them to make it a bad choice.

There has been a lot of misunderstanding on this, and I hope
that this clarifies.
