I believe that we can all agree that Genesis economy sucks quite a lot.
The addition of enchantments and auction hall helped a bit but it's still far from optimal.
Now, how about a bit different economy model:
The best equipment in the game would no longer be the one you get from mobs, it would be crafted (by Blacksmiths for example, although I'd be for introducing more craft guilds, like Weaponsmiths, Armourers etc. whose crafting skill would depend soleley on crafting experience).
Ingredients required to craft the best gear would of course randomly drop from the toughest mobs, with certain mobs having a chance
to drop specific components.
Benefits:
1. Killing and looting becomes more interesting.
2. Crafting becomes more interesting and Blacksmiths are no longer just "I can sharpen my weapon on the fly" guild.
3. People could pursue something else than just bigger stats and size, expert crafters would be in high demand.
4. Moneysink!
5. Interaction!
What do you guys think?

Re: New economy model and crafters
Nah, I like to kill to find items, lets not ever ever change that.
1. Killing and looting is fun for me. now more when there is imbuements to get too.
2. Smiths are much more than i can sharpen my weapons.. You can repair, smithinspect items, forge alot of weapons, shields and armours. I actually use the smiths, or the forges alot, to improve my clubs, to improve my swords, chainmail, greaves, bracers, and shields.. They are all now on Extremely well made. So its more than enough to begin with.
3. We have to AH to purchase special items. Now there is holy crystals, Steely longsword, there has been runies, Serrated halberds, Shells, Massive bone spiked shields, clubs and axes in huge numbers. And due to Items saving, The need for master crafters is rarely required.
4. Money sink.. What money sink...? ive been playing almost 13 years now and i had 500 plats on my account untill i started trading on AH. Now i have a little under 3000. Is that alot? What money sink are we all talking about.. If every one was a billionare wouldnt the prices on AH be much higher..? I think we can see from there how much money the general public has. Sure some that grind hardcore and loot everything will ofcourse have more money than the rest of us.. But also, they work harder, Kill loot and sell all the time. Some just kill and loot whats on the corpse, and leave armours and weapons behind. Ofc they will have less. So what money sink do we really need. It was an old rumor long ago that has stayed with us i think.. People use to have alot of money.. but now.. i think we are pretty avarage.
5. Interaction yes, but shouldnt we use what we already have for that, perhaps inns and Arenas and what not.
Perhaps make it take longer to order food, like getting a weapon done by bubba.. then you have to sit and wait a bit for every portion you have.. then people could meet in there over supper.. and a drink..
Inns now you go buy 10 x food/drink, spam it. and out.. you read the menu to begin with but then its over.. nothing ever really happens there.
Im not saying it should take 20 mins to get food on genesis. but for 10 big meals, perhaps 5 mins wait.. sit and drink and relaxe. ? just my bid on this on.
Cheers.

You sit down and begin to chomp on your bread... This may take a while.

It shouldn't be possible to eat and drink during combat, it's just ridiculous. You should have to prepare before the fight with eating and drinking.
