Re: The Cult of Chemosh
I think its important to point out that just because guilds may share alignment doesn't mean they can't be enemies. The black and white good vs evil thing is lame and unrealistic. There's plenty of room to work in the 'greys' if people have the inclination and courage to do so.
Re: The Cult of Chemosh
I'm pulling out my cheerleading pompons to be ready for when MMs start killing PoTs or even better - Psuchae (would make sense, no?) for the same reasons they kill others.
My popcorn is ready too!

Re: The Cult of Chemosh
I am not saying the game should be unbalanced or that guilds should not pass through a QA process.
My point is that just because an evil mage guild that you don't like is stopped does not mean you will get
a good aligned mage guild instead.
as far as balance goes it has been pointed out the game is far from perfectly balanced as it is now.and probably
never will be perfectly balanced. My point as far as balance goes balance arguments more often end in nerfing
than they end in anything useful being added.
Genesis has always been rather brutal to good aligned caster guilds. there just seems to be some issue with
white mages of any sort. maybe the dynamicis supposed to be evil is more populous and varied but filled
with infighting and vendettas to keep them from cooperating a few competing guilds might create this effect.
and good having less options will be more focused. and of course neutral is a wildcard.

Re: The Cult of Chemosh
Umm.. I never said I dont like the Chemosh idea, I said the exact opposite... the idea itself is awesome, and I am not expecting a good aligned one instead. I am just questioning the idea behind adding another evil one and r e m o v i n g the good one we have. Which I think is a valid question. But maybe new elementals will be totally anti undead too and not at all so neutral as I think. Who knows.Snowrose wrote:I am not saying the game should be unbalanced or that guilds should not pass through a QA process.

Re: The Cult of Chemosh
Well, everything in Calia is supposed to default on being antiundead, so expect the elementals will be too like their layman cousin.

Re: The Cult of Chemosh
Well yes I know, I am a member of the worshippers, but the anti undead thing is more of a passive type of anti undead policy. We dont like stuff thats undead, but that means basically that we dont let undeads become worshippers and that we prefer not to be too friendly with undeads. Scops seem to be more _against_ undead, actually wanting to actively hunt down undead things. (I think?) Maybe even adding Chemosh could actually have been a spark of new life for the Scops too I think. Since you'd then have two evil undeads and a natural counter for them. Removing scops means the natural enemy for undeads goes away? But maybe the new elementals will get some type of scop-like branch...? I dont know, I am worried it'll be more like the layman elementals though, which truly are very neutral, and usually very peaceful.Kas wrote:Well, everything in Calia is supposed to default on being antiundead, so expect the elementals will be too like their layman cousin.
Re: The Cult of Chemosh
I guess it remains to be seen, but elementals do include Psuchae, so if the guild do a five-split, the guild could end up with an active undead element like Scops are now.
So, neutral/antiundead.

Re: The Cult of Chemosh
Could be. I doubt it will be distinct branches though. With our low population the logical choice would be 1 fairly united guild instead of a 5 in 1 guild with different branches. One would think anyway. But we'll see. Maybe it'll be without council and stuff, truly "do what you want"-neutral, so you can join and become an "undead hunter" if you'd wish. Assuming they'll get some anti undead abilities. Which is far from certain. But it'll be pretty toothless to be anti-undead without any anti undead tools.
Re: The Cult of Chemosh
Not necessarily. Are undeads toothless because they don't have anti-living abilities? Being undead is just a state, and in genesis it has been a disadvantage for ages.
I'm pretty sure whatever abilities given by the regular elementals could work just as fine as any antiundead abilities, and maybe with even less restrictions.
Fireballs, chainlightning, meteorstorms etc works just aswell on the living as the undead.

Re: The Cult of Chemosh
Yes, being an undead mage has definitely been a disadvantage over the years?
It would only make sense if a guild with an anti-undead theme also would have some special ability/abilities against undeads. But sure, new worshipper mega-fireballs will hopefully burn mages to a crisp just as quickly as anything else! At least until the nerf.
