Reveal everything

Post by OgreToyBoy » 14 May 2014 17:02

Why not reveal what counters what in every guild, especially magic guilds?
There are no secrets ... for some. How about the rest of us get access to same information?
Since most pvp abilities can be countered with high stats you should be able to counter most magic abilities with stats or specific items.
I'm not talking about an item that can be obtained once during a quest every 4th Armageddon, which <forum mage> would like.
So someone can break your weapon, well spoon of an orc counters it so better go get one and have it ready at all times. Maybe is a rare drop from a rare baby orc so will take a while making sure you have to work for your defensive item. Shadows stop you from running away, use the humanskin boots of awesome light to make an escape.
Now we hear 'resists' can help you survive, but no proof of it protecting against the abilities mentioned above. If a persons damage is hindered by resists he will just bring a melee friend to hack his enemy down whilst only using his awesome PvP abilities to render the opponent defenseless. Even though he most likely don't need a friend.

Magical and elemental resistances are the "armour" against magic and elemental pvp damage. This isn't new information or something needing to be revealed, to my knowledge. Its been discussed many times in various threads. Want to pvp vs. melee, use armour-class boosting armours. Want to pvp vs. a magic user, use resistances.

Is this what you mean?

Believe he's talking about utility spells, breaking weapons, traps, curses. Are these non health damaging spells also effected by magic resistances? I'd also like to throw in when you give spells descriptions like "Hits you with a jet of diseased swamp water" and it requires a resistance to life because it's a life spell. Or swap those around, it gets pretty annoying and serves no real purpose. Everyone already knows what blocks a sword, playing guess the magic is probably the last thing on everyone's Genesis to do list.

On a completely opposite side of it there is tons of misinformation out there and some questions that you can only speculate. Why some of this info isn't made public I'll never know.

Things such as:

Which stats effect a guild special or normal skills, for instance pick pocketing. Is it dex, int, wis or a combination? Awareness, Hide, Sneak. Just skill or stats involved because with Master Sneak/Hide it seems like just about anyone whose a Gardener has no problem spotting you. After asking around I've gotten 4 different answers. I could of sworn when AA nerf took place Petros let out that strength was not the deciding factor in the AA special. Why not just say what it is, I dont see the purpose in keeping things like that hidden.

Weapon speed, Damage, Accuracy and Magical Stats. At best you can get a mercenary to max appraisal and compare crap for damage and accuracy. You'll need to either sneak around a guild who will remove members for sharing said info in game or OOC or be non evil to obtain any magical information. Weapon speed myth?

Imbuements, what makes them trigger? Random or a certain stat?

It was revealed how the soft cap for stats work, what about skills? Are they hard capped at 100?

Some of this can be found out in game if you have the time and knowledge. Or you can just kiss ass to someone who has the wiz file/info and hope they are being truthful. Either way there are way more questions that could be added and most of them do nothing but give players a better understanding of how to improve themselves.
