Brainstorm:
Each guild gains access to an alliance command.
Each guild can share certain amenities or boons to those with whom they're allied.

Re: Guild Boons
Might be good, what about the neutral Guilds?
Re: Guild Boons
Using the guild alliance command would not be necessary. I would need a list of every occupational guild and possible amenities and boons to share devised first to discuss balance.

When this idea has been up before one thing I remember suggested was having a shared "alist", or "alliance list" which lists all allied guild members awake. Another thing discussed was the ability to contact your fellow allies using some sort of alliance message system. To promote socialising and teaming between guilds. I think those are good examples of boons that are useful, but not overly "powerful" in a way so it becomes unfair against other guilds who do not wish to ally themselves with anyone.
If allied guilds were to get some really good abilities there should probably be drawbacks involved too or it would be unfair against neutral guilds, or guilds who are more "we stand alone" in nature.
Anyway, I think a lot of ideas were suggested in a a few old threads about a "war / peace / allied" system for guilds. Where guilds could be able to set their "status" towards other guilds, which would then mean different things and have different pros and cons. It's probably in the "suggestions" section of the forum if someone wants to go dig through the old threads about this.
