I'm a bit curious now, with the new rules.

I've just teamed with someone.. We talked lots before starting a bit of grind.
during the grind chat died down, which is ok, because its not always you want to talk.

Now at the end, i notice he hasnt been assisting for quite a while, and a last discovers him to be 30 mins idle.

I'm pretty used to grinding skulls without talking to myself, so i didnt notice. As i understand new rules, a botcheck on him would have punished me too. Am i right in this?

and how would you want me to act now..

The only rule we changed is that you can now idle for 30 min with as much gear as you want, before you could not idle at all with good gear. So rules are nicer for idling, since it's not that harmful really. Only if it goes on for a very long period of time. All other rules remain exactly the same, but the punishments have been updated.

Neither of you would be punished in this scenario, unless I misunderstand you. You were at the screen and would have responded to a bot test, right? And if you friend was idle for 30+ min he would eventually be logged out by the game, and would not have been punished either. Unless he was using triggers to keep him in the game while not being there of course. Then it would be idle botting, which is not a horrible crime, and neither are the punishments for it. it can't be combat botting as he was not using triggers to fight unattended, nor were you using any type of script or triggers to control him.

And how does this rule affect herb-botting or forge-botting? Are the punishments just as harsh?
Time is precious. Waste it wisely.

How long do you have before you're considered unattentive?
We talk a few seconds or a few minutes?

What about a persons camping a room, killing the critters in just that room on triggers during an entire day.
That is allowed?

Again, <help botting> lists the punishments for various types of botting. And no it's not as harsh as combat botting.

You have about 4 minutes to answer the automatic captcha test, so that's the minimum amount of time before you might be considered botting. Although we may use other means to tro to get in contact with your first. Remember we're not out to catch people who take a toilet break without leaving your team, or glancing at an other window for a while now and then. It's extended automated botting while you're doing something else that we'd like to put an end to. if you're not doing that, you should not have anything to fear.

For your second question. Well, there's no rule against camping or using triggers. It all comes down to whether this person is active while doing it. If you are, it's fine, if you're not really there and the triggers do it all for you you're both idle and combat botting.
