Oh no! Disaster has struck! AGAIN!
Despite our best efforts to stop the thieves *
who struck at Christmas time two years ago, /.\
they have managed to sneak past our traps again. /..'\
And just like last time the thieves have raided /'.'\
the Genesis Admin kitchen and stolen not only /.''.'\
our Christmas ham, but also the wood chips that /.'.'.\
we were going to use to smoke the ham! (Yes, /'.''.'.\
here on Genesis we smoke our hams instead of ^^^[_]^^^
cooking them). These mischievous thieves then,
for some reason, decided to spread all hams and chips all over the
realms. Most likely they do not even like ham, but just wanted was
to destroy the Christmas spirit. Again.
So...
Since we have way too much to do to actually hunt down all
these hams and stacks of chips, we've decided to make an event
of it and ask for mortal help.
THE CHRISTMAS HAM EVENT 2015
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In order to help recover the stolen items, the AoE team is again
distributing separate rune stones of ham and wood chips detection
to all who are willing to help. Each stone is tuned only to find
ham or chips, but not both.
You will find these detecting stones in the common rooms when the
event begins. Each stone will be tuned to a few items at a time.
You should <choose> a target to hone in on, and <activate> the
stone. If the stone detects the item nearby, it will help you find
it. Note that you can only have one type of stone throughout the
event, and cannot switch. That is, you can only look for hams OR
chips. Which one you get is randomly decided when you pick up
your stone the first time.
Now, since you are already helping us find the hams and wood chips
you might as well help us smoke them too. So if you find wood chips,
you can <offer> the chips to someone with hams to have it be smoked.
If you have found some hams and are made such an offer, you can
<accept> the offer and have your ham smoked.
But beware! The thieves also stole a number of fake chips that we
had made exactly for this purpose. (Although the idea was that
they would steal the fake chips only, not the real ones too). These
fake chips might actually destroy hams if used. So be careful when
you smoke hams, and make sure the person providing the chips is
someone you trust.
However... since we had way too many hams to begin with anyway,
(and since it's fun to see hams explode), we may also reward
those players resposible for the most mayham. (<- Hah!)
And, finally, the thieves also stole a number of Arch Pigs, bred
by Petros, that are now running around the realms. Since these
pigs are alive they cannot be found by the detecting stones that
only work on inanimate objects. So you will have to find them on
your own. And try not to <poke> the pigs or disturb them too much,
or they may get angry. You may however <collect> them. If you
collect the whole set of 6 arch pigs you will be receive a special
bonus reward.
WHEN WILL IT START AND HOW LONG WILL IT RUN?

The event will start at 23:00 GT (Game Time) on Sunday December
13, and will end exactly one week later, at 23:00 GT Sunday
December 20.
HOW DOES SCORING WORK?

There will be different types of hams and chips, some more rare
than others. Rarer items are worth more points. You can only smoke
hams with its appropriate type of chips.
The main goal will be to gather as many points as possible. Points
will be given for finding and collecting the stolen items before
others get to them, and each time you smoke someone's ham, or have
your ham smoked, you will also earn points.
Your score will be remembered when you leave the game, and if you
enter the game once more you will be able to continue your search.
However, the hams and chips you can use to smoke will only be valid
for the current session. If you log out, it resets, and you will
lose whatever hams or chips you have not used for smoking yet.
Scores will be updated in real time during the event, and you can
check your current position in the standings using your guide stone.
You will not see your exact amount of points though, only how you
are doing compared to other participants.
There will be two separate competitions. The "Main Event" for
participants between expert and myth, and the "Junior Event" for
participants who are veterans and below. Your mortal level when you
pick up your guide stone the first time will decide which event
you compete in.
Going suicidal on purpose just before the event to lower your
mortal level in order compete in the junior event instead of the
main event will lead to disqualification.
EVENT REWARDS

For each item found and for each item smoked all participants
will receive General Experience.
The top 10 participants in each category will receive Quest and
General Experience rewards, with the winner receiving the most and
the tenth place finisher the least. Also, the size of your reward
will depend both on your position in the standings when the event
ends and your total amount of points.
In addition, the top 3 in each category will receive a special
and very powerful MAGIC RING that will last for 30 days, and
a special title lasting for 1 year.
Each player who finds a full set of Arch Pigs will also receive
a bonus Quest Experience reward, as well as a GLITTERING
IMBUEMENT STONE of their choice.
THE INOFFICIAL HAM DESTRUCTION EVENT REWARDS

One (or more) participants (regardless of mortal size) responsible
for the most ham destruction will also receive some type of reward.
This will not be an "official" competition though (so don't tell
anyone), and ham destruction scores will not be visible until the
end of the event.
So, if you go for this reward, it's a gamble since you won't know
what the reward will be, who you're competing against, and your
position. You will also most likely have a hard time scoring well
in the "real" event if you destroy a lot of hams. But it could be
worth it if you win. Maybe? Or will it!?!

Questions? Don't ask, figure it out! Ok, fine, you can ask me
(Cherek), but I will only answer general questions about event
rules etc, not specific questions about how many points a berkshire
ham is worth, how many of a certain chip type exists, or anything
else that would give someone an unfair advantage. It's up to you
to figure out the best strategy to earn the most points.
Finally, it may happen that a ham or stack of chips is impossible
to get to for some reason. For example it has somehow ended up in a
closed off area, inside a guild, or similar. If that happens,
you can <report> it using your guide stone and it will be replaced
by a new item, and the issue will be investigated by the AoE team.
However, do not abuse this command by reporting a lot of findable
items just to gain an advantage. Participants who do this will
swiftly be disqualified from the event.
Now, forget whatever you had planned to do the week before
Christmas, and come here to help us smoke some ham instead!
