Re: Magic Map Additions
Some old maps may be wider than 80 characters but that is the standard we now hold ourselves to.
Re: Magic Map Additions
I may be guilty of some such maps... part of learning how to make them and the evolution of magic maps. Anyway if you find any such maps report it here and we can probably flag for re-updating at some point.Perrigrine wrote:Some old maps may be wider than 80 characters but that is the standard we now hold ourselves to.

The testing I did was in the newbie area.
Moving north from the start place towards the bunnies the map changed width.
Curious, how does the genesis web client know when to put map data on a new line?
Because it seems to work fine with any width.
Is there a way to train other clients to do the same?
Re: Magic Map Additions
That is a question better asked of Mercade or Gorboth. Otherwise just assume it is done by magic.Tarax the Terrible wrote:Excellent thank you.Arman wrote:I may be guilty of some such maps... part of learning how to make them and the evolution of magic maps. Re: Magic Map Additions
It is certainly possible for maps to be less than 80 chars in width. None should exceed 80, and if they do, they are naughty.

Re: Magic Map Additions
But how does the client know when to break differing lengths of map to a new line?
Cus in the raw gmcp data as far as I I could tell it was like it was just one big string with no /n for newlines or whatever
Unless I am missing something

I'll leave this part of the conversation to smarter people than I, but the map files I create are not one big string. Each line is a separate line.
