It really depends on whether or not the game has coded to facilitate
roleplaying, and not whether it is required or not.


Also you say that if we do not reward roleplay with powerful
abilities, roleplay will die and then Genesis will die too.
That is something I strongly disagree with as well.
It is strange that you advocate keeping out powerplayers, so that
you can hog the powerful abilities yourself, while keeping the
facade up that you're a roleplayer. If you are a roleplayer, you should
appreciate rich lore, emotes, guild history, a strong purpose for the
guild. Not just powerful abilities to kill monsters and players alike.

I can't believe that you'd be so self-centered than to think that
the game would die, if you cannot keep your 'elite' guild.
The majority of this game is not in the exclusive guilds, and the
majority don't roleplay 100% of the time, but somehow they are irrelevant?
Do they only play Genesis, because you are in your exclusive guild
wielding the power to kill them at will, because you think that
you're a better roleplayer yourself? Surely not.

Plenty of so called powerplayers have been accepted in 'elite guilds' and
have used the powerful abilities to go powerplaying, or even using the
abilities to kill other players at their whim. Players are just human
afterall, and such a system will become corrupt and abused, as we've seen
for years.


All in all, it seems that you think that roleplaying is an "effort", a
hardship, that should be rewarded with more powerful to kill things in
Genesis. If you don't enjoy roleplaying, and only do it because you know
that you'll be granted more powerful abilities, then really...
You're not a roleplayer, but a powerplayer.
Stop roleplaying if you don't enjoy it, because this is a game, and it
should be entertaining.


As a closing note, I'd like to ask a broad question.
Why is it that so called powerplaying is viewed with such disdain, when
the majority of what the game offers are just that?
(Killing monsters and solving quests to gain higher stats/abilities/skills)

Sometimes it sounds like some people want a MUSH, but can still tolerate
the lesser players that want to play a MUD.

I get most of my enjoyment out of roleplaying/interacting with other
players, but that doesn't mean that we should close our eyes to the
reality that running around killing stuff is a huge part of the game.
