Code: Select all
Hello,
Sorry for the late reply, I have been away from the realms
for a couple of weeks due to RL-stuff.
I did not code the bandana nor the minotaur race, I did,
however, code the only minotaur helmet (the champron), which
is probably what you have heard.
Now, while a bandana realistically should be able to be worn
under a helmet (or by a minotaur), it is technically classified
as a head armour, which makes it impossible to combine with a
helmet. I think this makes perfect sense since darkvision is
quite powerful. To be able to use the rather common and relatively
easy to get bandana, the player is unable to wear a helmet,
meaning players have to choose between a good head armour or
darkvision. I think this is good game design by whoever created
the bandana many years ago.
One of the perks of being a minotaur is that they already
have natural head armour on par with the better helmets in the
game, and they also have access to the special minotaur helmet
that further bumps up their head armour to very high level. So,
if minotaurs could wear the bandana they would get the very nice
benefit of being able to have high head armour AND darkvision
with the help of the bandana - something other players can't.
So... if we change things as you suggest, minotaurs get a
benefit compared to all other races, and if we leave things
as they are, minotaurs have a small drawback compared to other
races. However, since minotaurs already have two benefits
(natural head AC and dual wie.ding some weapons), I personally
think it's fine if they also have drawbacks regarding some
head items. If you have benefits, you should also have drawbacks
to balance it.
However, since Arman is both Liege of Krynn (where the bandana
and minotaurs are located) and Arch of Balance, you could contact
him directly and argue your case. It's ultimately his decision.
