RP event in Middle Earth.
Greetings All,
Being and old GM for M.E.R.P amongst other games I have been hobby-knitting on
a RP event for Middle Earth.
ETA is in August-September, and I will post further information as we get
closer to date.
The basic plot is:
- A Stoor Hobbit has found an item of high moral value for the Free Peoples of
Eriador in the Trollshaws
- The Hobbit contacts his distand cousin who is also the Scout Commander of the
Dagarim Aran
- The inner circle of the Dagarim Aran keep this new finding very secret
- Little do they know their is a traitor among them, working for the Iron
Fortress
- Thus, both the Dagarim Aran and the Angmarim wish to get hold of the item for
their own purposes
Based on this rather simple plot, I imagine sceemes and plots, as well as a
possible skirmish or two around the Event.
As the Angmarim do not wish to loose their valuable spy in the Dagarim Aran,
they cannot risk an open assault, and like-wise as the Dagarim Aran do not wish
to aim much attention to themselves when they pick up the object neither side
intends to use full force.
For all other guilds/players in the Realm, if you can find a plausable idea for
interacting in the Event, please join it. The more the merrier as they say.
Hopefully we can make the Wizzes to add a bit of code, maybe the item, or an
NPC or so to join the event. This, however, lies not in my hand to decide.
Welcome!
Sincerely,
Beregond's player
P.s Feel free to contact Beregond OOC about the event.

Re: RP event in Middle Earth.
I don't know if Beregond reads the forums, and I don't know if the event will be something I will participate in.
But projects like this is great!
Should certainly get a well-deserved shoulderclap and encouragement from the Admin, I think.
Hopefully it'll turn out as a great event, and get a snowball effect of future events spiraling off this one

I have been trying to convince him to come join the forum.Makfly wrote:I don't know if Beregond reads the forums, and I don't know if the event will be something I will participate in.

No dice.
Previous forums have soured him to the experience.
Maybe someone else can convince him...
Re: RP event in Middle Earth.
No can do sir. The only response I can get from him is that Beregond is strictly an RP entity and that he doesn't want to mix him up with out-of-game stuff.Tarax the Terrible wrote: I have been trying to convince him to come join the forum.

Re: RP event in Middle Earth.
Leave the events to the wizards, how would it be if every part would get an event? Would be to much, events are supposed to be few. Thats the charm with it.
Just get an item and pretend..

What? I thought that player initiative to organize such things is a nice thing. And if the wizards would like to help out with it, then why not? Something out of the ordinary like that can be a great thing both for the players and for the wizards (who could even take part in it by possessing NPCs or whatever and have a chance to interact with players).Bomrim wrote:Leave the events to the wizards, how would it be if every part would get an event? You mean that every character can have it's own event? That's a pretty bad idea.Rhaegar wrote:What? I thought that player initiative to organize such things is a nice thing. Then, why not make a event for Cadets, Acedemy, Calian Warriors, Knights, DO, mercs and all other guids?!
It's Genesis, not a playground. You don't need a special item to RP it.
If the wizards just keep adding things, the concept of the game will change and genesis will lose the touch.
I've read many suggestions to the game at the forum that doesn't make me feel like continue playing, changes that would change to much.

Re: RP event in Middle Earth.
Like it's mentioned in the OP, wizzies have nothing to do with it. And if they would like to make a special item or whatever else they might fancy, who are you to stop them? Creating a simple item takes like 1-2 minutes of coding so it wouldn't drag anyone out of their other work.
And you seem like the only person around that doesn't want things to change. Almost everyone else has suggested some changes in various areas of the game. What's wrong with change?
