So the current Morgul Mages degraded into sellouts. It's not surprising, is it?
Morgul Mages were feared once. They could poison you into death. They could be
invisible and stalk you, until you were as ripe to be a prey for them as an orc
for Shelob. They would usually not engage in a harrassment fight, but go for
the throat of their victim/s assuring the kill. They were horror. I experienced
this myself often enough. Sometimes I didn't even know what happened, other
times I could barely survive even when "graced" with 3 Black Breaths at once
for my "endavours" with "their" Haradrim forces.
This is water under the bridge.
When I was away apparently they degraded into abusing their most known and
feared guardians - nazguls, which resulted in the nazguls being gimped.
No longer would they hunt. No longer would they poison anyone. No longer
would they be any real danger - just a tank and heal fight. As bland and
straight forward as a loot piniata can be. As bland and boring as actually
most encounters for top loot currently - lazy design is current strategy.
Sad times.
As usual that change was made silently. Hardly anyone knew that and so most
thought that the FBB would be only really obtainable for vampires with how
unbalanced ... errr skilled! I meant skilled! they are.
That's the aspect I addressed with me previous note - the silent changes only
"selected" few are notified about. That note was worthy a "reply" from the
keeper in the "flames" section of the forum, which he knows best I won't
access anyway - he was the one deleting my user from the forums, as AoP, on
my direct request. Years ago. I'm happy you're "Happy" man, and I can
understand why you are no longer "Proud". I wouldn't neither.
By the way - how many new IPs stay active after 6 months since they first
logged in a new character? How many after 12 months?
Ze boss being active in the "flames" section tells me enough about quality
or actually the lack of it. It's unfortunately not unexpected, but quite in
line with long term decisions and behavior.
I digress. Back to the Morgul Mages.
When word got out that currently the loot piniata is basically reachable for
anyone with a healer and unbreakable weapons, something had to change again.
Obviously this could not go on. And it didn't go on!
Apparently they decided they would let vampires farm their most significant
guardians. That's lower than BDA killing Bakaris, which stopped years ago.
That's lower than "Neraka troll training" available to selected guilds,
which also stopped recently. That's like Rangers would let Calians enter
their halls and heal them while they fight Faramir for his items. That's
not even close to what Mim described with Gamalus, IF Calians let Neidars
kill Gamalus and share their loot.
That's lower than anyone ever fell and it's over a sword. It's over greed.
Unsatible greed.
I am sad for what happened to this iconic guild. This is from someone who
was on the receiving end of their sting for decades.
The real problems in all this are three:
1. vampires being bossy in Genesis again, because they were given a really
unbalanced combination of perks, abilities and skills to assure their
survival AND harrassment capabilities (possibly kill-abilities too when
the pvp tools will be reinstated, but I have no idea about those - I
bet their tools happen to beat other tools because it's end-game content)
2. enhancers - the pinnacle of current "Genesis design"
3. lack of a long-term strategy for Genesis - with vision and a list of
priorities to reach for that vision
We know by now the extremely skilled players behind vampires need all the
help they can get in itemization, skills and abilities to tackle the
end-game content Genesis has to offer so we shall not expect changes there.
Said end-game being camping the nazgul together with Mages, so they get all
the lollipops while others don't get any combined with driving away from the
game all people who don't approve of them. The lack of reaction from
wizards to both those aspects tells much. Sadly not much good.
Maybe the AoB and AoP could turn their attention to enhancers and how they
created a completely new meta, which vampires accidentally happen to excel
in? Maybe enhancers could enhance each spell but ONLY for occupational
casters like Clerics, Wizards, Mages and Priests? Maybe they could have
enhance charges with a cooldown for layman casters? Maybe they could just
have a cooldown for layman casters? Maybe vampires could be treated as
layman casters for this purpose? Maybe the nazgul should not be a loot
piniata? Maybe such blantant "RP" abuse should have wizards actually
govern guilds again?
I don't know. I am not on the AoB team and surely not on the AoP team, but
we sure should expect more from those teams in terms of balance on the
ground (as opposed to "in numbers and tests" ran by wizards) and real
player agency. NEW player agency, which we apparenly strive for but work
really hard to put off with a plethora of stupid design choices. With
great success and at great cost, sadly - just check how much Gen patronite
is earning per month.
How about you guys in the wizhood have a real discussion about strategy
and actually start implementing it long-term. Not the usual stuff we are
being shown for decades - decisionmaking of a chicken with it's head cut
off.
How about not implementing more nuisances for 90% guilds because one
(supposedly very skilled and experienced) can't survive without them?
How about a strategy, finally? Other than "my favourite puppy needs more
xyz" while other dogs are left to rot.
