Dear Genesis,

Considering the section, we’ll start with what you want. Feel free to just, like, stop reading afterwards.

(I'm Muzan and will interject with sassy comments throughout.)

The area is sheltered from the sun's rays.
As you walk on the outer edges of the camp center, the tents stack closer and closer together, and as a result the ground is covered in, empty bottles, dirty rags, food scraps and other random debris. Around each tent there are crusaders in various states of inebriation, and even though the mood appears light, something sinister seem to keep everyone in check. The tents form rows preventing any movement north of south, but you're free to travel in the east-west direction.
There are two obvious exits: east and west.

The area is covered in a blanket of darkness.
The area is sheltered from the sun's rays.
Looking in all directions you quickly come to the realization that you are closing in on the middle of the camp. Crusaders in various states of inebriation are clearly preparing for something, or you reckon, attempt to ignore their fears for whatever lurks behind the drawbridge separating the barely visible castle to the east from the path leading to it. The ground is littered with bottles, rags, food scraps and even a few dead rats. The tents are set up close to one another, and as a natural consequence the air is both stale and full of bodily odours. From here you can move north towards the edge of the camp, south towards the very centre or continue in the east-west direction towards what appears to be more of the same.

Completely unedited. I hope it’ll be of some interest although I’m personally of the belief Muzan’s greatest crime here is his inventory management choices (son of a gully dwarf).

As was pointed out by Selem (love the guy) on the Discord - at least I think it was him - it’s always interesting to see the ingenuity of this game’s players. This comes out the most when we all want to kill each-other, in a rather sad reflection of real-life.

On a self-congratulatory note, I would like to note that I’m the one who provided Muzan with the grimoire trick (yeah yeah, whatever!) , having sat on it for the best part of three years. I’ve always enjoyed stories of Pacal and the glowsticks, and this seems similar. The grimoires have been around for decades, and used as grenades for decades, and there’s something nice about the notion of “rediscovering” such a thing. Unfortunately I never got a chance to - the difficulty with the “grimoire grenade” has always been that it requires the enemy to stand still for half a minute(Indeed). Amusingly, the potential for abuse has been mentioned before, on the discord. (https://discord.com/channels/3080311634 ... 8182764554).

Genesis is fascinating, I have thought, as a medium for stories. I can think of no other games remotely similar to Genesis in this regard. To have grudges spanning decades, rivalries, friendships, conflicts, is truly incredible. The possibilities, as me and Muzan have found are near unlimited. There are countless stories of the infamous (for all the wrong reasons)(I played a great General, mister ungrateful) Red Dragonarmy High Command that I should love to tell. Maybe one day. But, overall, Genesis is by far the finest form of escapism that there is. I doubt many of you will disagree with me on this (I do so enjoy being addicted).

I can still remember when I first joined Genesis, I saw this note (viewtopic.php?p=44308&) it always seemed so cool, and badass to me, that the Nazgûl even existed(scared the living daylight out of me… looking at you, Moghiadin). I suppose that's why I write this; to imitate a fraction of their coolness. A few more logs, then.

Firstly, a letter I sadly never sent. I thought it was quite cool, so I shall force it upon you all. For context, at the time, Taran was a ranger, and Lord of Aranarth. Muzan was of the Red Dragonarmy, and Tuathla had complained about him.

A lot of sass there. I should probably get back to the point (Taran was a great Lord).

Stories, Pullman writes, are “what make us human”. Perhaps that, I can blame for my morbid fascination with stories of Genesis of old. When you get down to it, Genesis is essentially collaborative storytelling(ugh… is that you, Riva? There is truth in this, though. Like Muzan’s Autobiographies… go read those). And I think it’s a shame that so many stories are being lost; here are some good places to find some, that I feel are often overlooked:

Logs & Stories section of this forum has some gems
https://www.oocities.org/timessquare/ar ... ar/?202411 is slow, but very nice.
Looking at archive.org for genesis mud allows some insights into the depths of time for gen.

And beyond that, talking to ancient players. They don’t have much else better to do oftentimes ;) (they should be playing with their kids smh)

Aaaaaaand I got sidetracked again.

By now I have forgotten exactly how long I’ve been playing Genesis for, but something that has always remained is the joy of exploration. That’s what I’ve always seen Genesis as: an exploration game. Although I’ve sucked at a lot of other things, to be fair (I have redacted my comment).

Some interactions will always stay with me. Taran being grilled by Saya whilst having Diri whispering to him her advice (and anger). The shock when

A shadow falls suddenly over the area, growing quickly darker as you watch. But no shadow is this, for as quickly as you can draw a breath it has become a black-robed hooded male orc, who sets upon you in wrath!
The black-robed hooded male orc draws power from the realm of shadows.
The black-robed hooded male orc shrieks shrilly.
One of my favourite “gotcha” moments. And you know what shows in all this? The care and attention to detail that is put into this game, by its players, and its wizards.

With the help of Dark Sorcery, someone tells you:
I will teach you if you follow the path of the Seeker.
Do you try to kill all your apprentices? I was kinda tempted, but, y'know...
With the help of Dark Sorcery, someone tells you:
I do not attempt to kill my apprentices, only Rebels who refuse to return the imbued blade they stole from me. The offer to return it still stands.
I think I'll take you up on your offer to become a seeker. Once I wake up tomorrow, I'll head straight for the elemental temple to post my application!
With the help of Dark Sorcery, someone tells you:
At last you make a decision of your own.
Go me, yeah!
Anyways, enjoying all the chipmunks? They make excellent therapy pets after a stressful day, no?
So, ummm, where do I sign up to become your apprentice?
And can I still drink Kahve if I have no heart?
With the help of Dark Sorcery, someone tells you:
You must abandon your Rebel cloak and embrace a sinister heart to enter the Black City. The instructions for the Path of the Seeker are upon the city board or in the Tower Library.
A sinister heart? I thought you served the giver of gifts!?
I'm getting cold feet about this now...
And my cloak keeps my feet rather warm...
With the help of Dark Sorcery, someone tells you:
The Dark Lord rewards those who serve Him well. Perhaps the Path is too difficult for one accustomed to kahve and campfires.
And I like to think that there’s a message to be drawn from this (Kahve is a better drink than any the Dark Lord can brew!). That we all share our love for this text adventure, that we all put so much effort into it. We are far more united, and have far more in common than that which divides us. I will not make this an appeal for unity, but.. Just consider it. Maybe? :)

(People need to stop being mean to each other outside of the game. Separate your characters. Be good men and women. Touch grass.)

It’s been a pleasure, everyone, and I’ve had a lot of fun.

You mean after the constant and blatant accusations he threw at Chanele, accusing her of being a bully and having done it and not owning up to it, basically being a total a....., then to finally be informed that it was Muzan with the help of Taran who did it, and suddenly he went "oh, good game, gonna get ya" attitude? You're right... Yeren the Bully is such a great sport, he can't even keep his own promises or act vaguely sportsmanlike...
