Greetings Genesis,
The AoP team often gets questions from players about the
rules surrounding "griefing" and more specifically how it
relates to player vs. player conflict and player killing.
In particular, there has been a recent uptick in both
questions and complaints, so I will attempt to clarify.
First, it should be noted that these sorts of situations
have a lot of different variables, meaning that we treat
every situation separately and uniquely.
Our Rules are a message from us (the AoP team) to you (the
player). When we say "abusive" we are saying that from our
perspective as it pertains to the rules and guidelines of the
game. Not how any individual player feels about the situation.
We also make clear that "provocation" is a key factor in our
assessment of what is "abusive" or not.
Essentially, if you attack another player, or steal from them,
or bring about their death somehow, threaten their guild or
their guild membership etc... etc... through some intentional
action - do not expect the AoP team to consider the ensuing
retaliation to be "abusive" because it was harsher than you
expected.
To further clarify, we have no specific set limits on how
strong the retaliation might be - One death does NOT mean
that the conflict is now ended and over. In many cases,
some players are willing to agree to that as an end to a
conflict. But this is not a rule which comes from the AoP.
If you have further questions, please feel welcome to
mail me for clarification.
Varian, on behalf of the AoP Team
