Leveling Meter
Greetings,
I'd like to see a leveling meter or some sort of way of knowing when you're close to leveling. The benefits of having this system are pretty high. Obviously, the closer you are to leveling the more you'd play. Perhaps a stat like Very far, Very close when you meditate could be used.
While we're at it, is there any way to make epic+ stats fall under the same Very far, Very close etc system? Why does it need to be such a big secret?

Re: Leveling Meter
especially since all this info is already quite known among the more experienced players ...

Re: Leveling Meter
I completely agree. I have been asking myself the same thing many times!
There is a pretty well-known little software that works very well for calculating how close you are to next level, but as soon as you reach EPICs and above it starts to work less and less well and for levels above hero/titan it doesnt do the work anymore. But why complicate things, why make people use software or other ways to calculate...
I think adding "very far, very close" etc to mortal levels would be a great way of getting people a little more motivated to play. It would motivate me for sure. Seeing the "progress bar" increase towards next level is always nice in any game. And as long as we dont add actual number I think it would fit the Genesis theme nicely.
I suspect one reason for not inlucding this info for mortal levels or in EPICS and IMMS is exactly the opposite though? To keep people from being too motivated and growing too quickly? Maybe it was working back when EPICs and IMMs meant you had already reached the maximum level. (champion). But I think as soon as the "new" titles were added, people want to reach them, and adding a level-meter would just be positive. Yes, people might grow a little quicker because of motivation, but why not. Myth is becoming the old "champion" anyway and there is no way to stop that now, only encourage it.
However I do NOT think we should add more titles above myth or more stats above supreme. Lets find another way to motivate those who have reached it with something else to do. Myth is still very hard to reach and I think it should definitely be the last title.
Anyway I completely agree Bromen. Lets add this right away. I feel more motivated already, and I am one of those who doesnt really like grinding in the first place.
Did you do a "sysidea" Bromen? If you dont do it, I will. But Ill give you a little while to do so you can get the credit for it. (Or the blame.):)

Re: Leveling Meter
If there are two options in this:
"how close/far from next stat"
or
"how close/far from next level"
I would personally support the last of those. I think its very fun when seeing that the epic that you had for AGES finally turned to immortal, or immortal to supreme.
Knowing how far from next level, would be better since it makes people work for it. If it was just the stats, you still needed to calculate a whole lot, know what avgs was the different lvls and so on.. because I think people are generally more interested in know where they are lvl-wise, and not stat-wise.

Re: Leveling Meter
I think this is a good idea aswell.
Just dont add more mortal titles, it was a mistake when myth was implemented so no need to do the same mistake again:)

Re: Leveling Meter
The example I used when I talked with Gorboth was,"When I was 2 bubbles away from leveling in WoW, there was no way I was logging off."
Then he had an Aha moment.
I'll sysidea and mail Gorboth in game. Thanks though Cherek. Maybe someday we can meet in a dark alley and duel like the mid 90's.

Re: Leveling Meter
Ofcourse we need a levelingmeter.

Might and Glory flaming for changing dawn, ancient power revealed of an iron crown, clear and cold and shining so far and bright, crush the world in one clash of your binding light.

Re: Leveling Meter
I can say I would most likely play a little more with a level-meter. I dont really care for grinding much, and even less when stats usually dont move (atleast not those above epic) and there is no way to actually see you are making progress. I think I would finding grinding a little bit more fun if I could see how I get closer to the next mortal level.
I would also suggest that a level meter for mortal size would have a few more steps than "very far, far, halfway, close and very close". There is a pretty big step between most mortal level so I think we could afford atleast 10 or more steps on our level-meter.
Did you have a suggestion for that too Bromen? How many steps and what each step should be called?
I'll spank you in a dark ally anytime. Maybe I already have recently?
