Christmas Event Phase 2

Post by petros » 03 Jan 2014 02:28

Code: Select all

The second phase of the Christmas Event has begun! Go to the common
room and <take> another runestone. If you were a ham searcher last time,
you are now a chips searcher and vice versa.

Along with the stone, you will get a bracelet. Keep this bracelet with
you in order to earn achievements. Achievements will be earned for
collecting your targets in different situations and for point totals.
Final scoring of the events will depend on the number of achievements
you earn as well as the difficulty level of the achievements.

Happy Hunting and Happy New Year!

Last turkey event which also had two phases worked in a rather unexpected way when scoring... There were three events, "week 1", "week 2" and "total for both weeks". This was known when the event started, so nothing strange there.

But the thing was if you for example finished second in week 1, then fourth in week 2, and ended up with a total third place... you ONLY got reward for finishing second in phase 1, and no reward at all for all the work you put into week 2 and your total score. So, everyone just got score for the best result.

I remember this caused some... disappointment. Many of us who participated both weeks kind of got a lot of hard work wiped out... it's fine to score this way I guess, but the main problem though was that nobody had mentioned this was how scoring was gonna work until after the event had ended. Which meant people who already had a top finish from the first week, got nothing for second week work and basically spent a lot of time competing for no reason when they already had their "best finish" from week 1.

So... to spare people from this happening again, I thought I'd bring it up. If scoring works the same way this time, it is for instance no use for Arcon to compete for places, as he already has a first place finish and cannot improve that. Likewise for anyone else in the top who do not think they can improve their position.

How will it work this time? Can you only get one reward? Or could for example Arcon finish first both weeks, and get double reward for finishing first twice?

Could you also clarify the above please?

So the 'topcollectors' score is a combination of points you get simply for collecting (like before) + points you get for completing achievements?

Or is 'topcollectors' only what you have collected, and the achievement points will be added at the end of the event?

topcollectors only takes into account the collection itself, not achievements. Just as before where arch items became multipliers, there will be adjustments given based on the level of difficulty and number of achievements attained.

This will be treated as two separate events. So you can get prizes for both events.
