I can code a hard cap at expert level. Price is $0.02 ;)

I'm glad you are speaking only for yourself. I think it's refreshing.

And it's on the main damn page of the website. Along with a beautiful atlas graphic reminiscent of the Tolkien atlas.

Hell, there's even a cool picture of the Donut. Do you even visit the site?

We're very short on active wizards. It's possible a few would return for money... :)

I think in the long run it's better if we find a few new wizards with lots of free time and lots of energy.
Anyone who feel they match that and want to help out is welcome to apply for wizhood.

Hm, where is that atlas graphic you speak of?

Or you mean this one:
https://www.genesismud.org/pages/maps

Thats nothing we spent money on I think. It's been around for a decade or more. It was on the old webpage too. Think some wizards made it a long time ago?

As for creating paper posters... well thats fine I guess, but it reaches a VERY small amount of people compared to online ads. Online ads work. I have some experience with that and there is absolutely no doubt we would get people who tried the game if we spent some money on online ads. Most ad solutions lets you spent very little money too, so trying it wont cost much.

I think Habiki has suggested this in some other thread, he seemed to have pretty good knowledge of the business of ads too.

But as with all things someone has to do it. I can say "I know a thing or two about ads" but since I dont do anything about it it doesnt matter much...:) I can only say that they work. No doubt it about it. Then it's upp to someone to volunteer for the work. But at least thanks to the paper posters we have material to create cool web banners too! So thats something, even if not many actual paper posters have been posted.

That is the one I mean. And perhaps I am mistaken about when we got it, but from what I recall of the Old atlas (the one you speak of that was on the old web page) it was in color and had green blobs as landmasses. It wasn't nearly so cool as the one here. This one also seems to have the same style of art that the artist who did the banner and other designs uses in a lot of his stuff, so I was pretty sure that it came from him.

Could be wrong. Only Gorboth could verify that, really.

No I can verify it for you. It's the same one but with colors and guild info and stuff removed. I think Iliana redid the old one when the new page was launched. Just imagine the black is blue, and the grey is green.:)

Anyway, as for Kickstarter its probably hard to get people to code ingame since it's so much someone new will have to learn about. However, what we REALLY need is someone who can handle a promotion campaign. If anything we should spend money on that.

For instance a Kickstarter campaign could be created to raise money to update and modernize our website and/or create other promotion content, like banners and videos for instance. And lets not forget having a project on Kickstarter will create exposure on its own.

Except the paper posters we have no promotion material at all. No banners. Nothing on youtube. No real presence in social media. And the website isnt very "selling", with a pretty dated design, (not the artwork, but the design layout), and with information that is not up to date.

Thats what we should spend money on if we want new players. And it's also something where it's easy, perhaps even preferable, to bring in someone who doesnt have any connection to Genesis, but simply is good at what he/she is doing.

Ah, touche! Good for her. I like the new one a lot, regardless.

Still, for the relatively low amount of money we spent, I think we got some solid art work from the artist.

To your points about the website design being outdated - I totally agree. I wish I was up to date on my HTML5 / PHP.

Yeah I belong to those who think the Artwork from Denis is very nice, and it would be even nicer with a more modern web design layout. But no complaints at those who did this one, if I remember correctly from Gorboth's info when it was presented I think it was a collaboration between wizards who had pretty limited experience in web design, so with that in mind I think it's fine. But an experienced web designer and Denis artwork could probably boost the first impression people get when they visit the page.

I think a stunning webpage will get many more to try the game.

We have any stats on visits btw? How many visit the page and try our "play now" client, and how many leave the page without trying the client?

That would be interesting info that can tell how much room there is for improvement. I dont know what kind of stats we have now, but sites like google analytics can easily show lots of useful info.
